Lovense Vulse thrusting vibrator review

Hands-free G-spot stimulation?! Lovense Vulse is a self-thrusting vibrator that you insert & wear vaginally. It’s got Lovense’s customizable app control for in-person or long-distance play.

While I find the Vulse more effective than Lovense’s Flexer “fingering vibrator,” you shouldn’t count on Vulse to: (1) be silent, (2) massage the G-spot consistently when you’re walking, or (3) have strong vibration.

The Run-Down:

Silicone thrusting plug for vaginal wear. Short, automatic thrusts + buzzy vibration. Excellent app control.

Vulse is made of nonporous silicone, has from 1.25″ to 1.5″ egg diameter × 3.25″ egg length (but can be inserted up to 4.5″ deep, including some tail), is IPX7 waterproof, and is magnetic USB rechargeable. We’ll review how the Lovense Vulse worked for me solo (vs. Lovense Lush!), and together as my boyfriend controlled it…

My Review Policy

All body-safe, zero BS. I only recommend body-safe toys, no bullshit and no paid promos. If I wouldn’t give a toy to a close friend, then I won’t recommend it to you, either. I’ve tested over 750 vibrators, 500 dildos, and 120 butt plugs (and an array of cock rings, kink gear, and lubes!). Everyone’s preferences vary, so I rate vibrating toys by 1. power level and 2. rumbliness; and always describe how my personal tastes color my experience.

Our Experience with Lovense Vulse

Solo Play

I pulled the Lovense Vulse out of its small box, immediately turning it on. The vibration… it’s neither strong, nor really weak. I retrieved my Lovense Lush 3 to confirm: Vulse is way weaker.

Lovense Vulse vibrator review - unboxing

And Vulse produces a robotic creaking, as its tip pulses back-and-forth. Hmm. Would this be disguisable outside the house, like Lush is quiet enough to not be heard (unless you’re in an oddly silent restaurant?).

I washed my hands & the Lovense Vulse, and retrieved my “love egg testing” short-shorts.1 Then, I inserted the Vulse thrusting vibe slowly into my vagina, pushed it up as far as it would go, and started walking around…

My wearable vaginal toys, all requiring support shorts! Lovense Dolce slips out most; Vulse is easier to wear than it, at least.

And yeah, I like the Lovense Vulse’s thrust-pulsing. It’s stimulating in a way that the Lush is not. I dig how it rubs, massaging my front vaginal way on repeat. That’s cuz I love thrusting sex, my favorite kind of play.

It did start to dry out, the silicone folds feeling slightly pinch-y. I’d neglected to use hybrid lube.

On the volume: The Lovense Vulse’s noisy-ness was well disguised by cars occasionally passing, and more ambient noise. The only time I was nervous was when a guy out walking his dog crossed my path. I paused—pretending to be distracted by my phone—to avoid getting within 3 feet of him.

As the Vulse vibe-thrusted inside, I felt indirect G-spot stimulation: not hard pressure, but passing grazes. Fun enough. The problem arose as I turned onto a quiet street, and needed to step up onto a curb. As I lifted a leg, I could feel Vulse sliding downward, slowly. Oop. Vulse was missing my G-spot now. The thrusting stimulation moved even lower in my vagina as I had to step up, and down, again.

By the time I returned home, Vulse was occupying the bottom 2 inches of my vagina, half-uninserted. Eh. I stopped for a drink of water, wanting to sit down on my couch and enjoy it more next.

And…Vulse stopped, too. Totally turned itself off, after 35 minutes total run-time. I was disappointed, but washed it and went to recharge it for next time.

The next morning, trying again—Vulse now inside me deeper—I realized I can make its steady thrusting turn on and off. Like, it gets lodged and just stops randomly, but starts running again (for up to 30 minutes!) if I hold the power button. Hmm. I know thrusting dildos will stall out if you sit on them hard, and it seems Lovense Vulse will act inconsistently too, sometimes!

Long-Distance Lovense Vulse Control

Connecting the Lovesense Vulse to my phone was super easy. I had the vibrator running on its preset functions, then I downloaded and opened the Lovense app, and the app connected Vulse automatically.

Next, my boyfriend & I were ready to test Vulse out together. We logged into our user profiles via the “Long Distance” option on the app’s bottom bar, then we connected.2

In short, it was hot: the sexting and picture exchange, and him making Vulse put out faster and faster waves of thrusting vibration, inside me. Again, good enough, but not out-of-this-world. We probably won’t Vulse long-distance-control much: I prefer just getting off on any of my favorite vibrators or best sex machine while sending him juicy photos, personally. Esca remains the best “chilling over drinks” G-spot vibrator for me, cuz I like the smoothness, rumbly vibration + music-syncing.

Thrusting Speed

Lovense describes Vulse as “reaching 120 thrusts per minute.”

The Vulse I purchased from Lovense is slightly slower: 102 thrusts per minute on high speed, or 78 thrusts per minute on low. Vulse’s motion is slow enough to see every stroke clearly, versus gyro-thrusting pulsators that are like “Whoooaaaa too fast to count!”

Vibration Functions and Strength

Lovense Vulse comes with 7 built-in functions of thrusting pulses & vibration, running simultaneously.

You cannot use the thrusting and vibration separately, they’re conjoined functions.

I rate Vulse’s vibration strength as from 4.5 to 5.25, where 10 = maximum vibrator power versus other vibes (Doxy wands are almost 10/10 strong).

Vulse has the most high-frequency (“buzzy”) vibration I’ve ever tested via spectrograph, reaching 211 Hertz in its main frequency band. That means it’s not rumbly in any way, shape, or form. Vulse makes the Lush 3 seem like a deep rumble-fest.

How to Use Vulse

Lovense Vulse vibrator - how to insert

How to Position

  1. Wash your hands and grip Vulse at the bottom of its bulb (where the tail starts).
  2. Apply a few drops of hybrid (=longer-lasting) or water-based lubricant over Vulse’s silicone if you’re not naturally very wet.
  3. Push it gently into your vagina.
  4. Use the tail as a handle to insert the Vulse’s bulb, to taste.
  5. If you’re wearing it outside your room/home: Consider using either nylon/spandex undershorts or other tight, form-fitting apparel to serve as support—in case the Vulse starts escaping.

How to Control

To turn on Lovense Vulse, find the power button on its tail. Hold down for 3 full seconds. It will buzz briefly.

Then, press the button again to start the vibrating-thrusting. Keep pressing to move through all 7 functions (3 are steady thrust-vibration, 4 are patterned rhythms).

To customize the thrusting, you’ll need to download the Lovense app. Vulse connects, then you can go into “Remote” to slide the intensity up and down, or to “My Patterns” to create your own wavy or steady thrusting-pulsing.

The “Discover” button on the app’s bottom bar now takes you to “Patterns,” top, where many thousands of user-shared patterns live.

Use either Long Distance or Control Link options to connect with a partner’s device, and let them control your vibrator. Full how-to on the Lovense app for long-distance vibrator control here!

Care & Cleaning

IPX7 waterproof! The Lovense Vulse’s silicone body can be submerged, or use it safely in the shower.

To clean, just use your normal handsoap and scrub Vulse under running water from your sink. Focus on rubbing soap over the bellows silicone folds, where your fluids are more likely to hang on.

It’s USB magnetic rechargeable. You must have the charging cord facing the right direction (so that a light appears), or it won’t charge. (The cord’s not reversible.)

Recap & Rating

The Lovense Vulse is very much a mixed bag: Awesome because automatic movement, yet “But whyyyy” is my only response when I think of its vibration.

Personally, I like it more than the Lovense Lush because my vagina craves thrusting, motion, f*cking. But the Vulse’s quarter-inch-long thrust means it’s a foreplay vibrator—not a HELL YEAH orgasmic thrusting machine.

Besides being a weaker vibrator, it’s also not as quiet as the Lush, and has a substantially shorter battery life / runtime per recharge. So, if you want a remote-control vibrator to wear out on a date, Vulse is likely the worse choice. (See Lovense Ferri for clit stimulation, or Lush critical review here, for alternatives.)

NOTES

  1. Tight nylon shorts recommended. Vaginal wearable toys will work their way outta my vag. as I walk, always: Support-shorts keep them resting at my vaginal introitus (“mouth”), at least, instead of plopping out into my underwear, then *gasp* falling onto the ground if I’m wearing shorts instead of jeans.
  2. I might’ve created both Lovense user profiles as we hung out together, and accidentally gave the name c0cklover to his phone, lmao.
