Pulsating Dildo Guide – 9 high-speed toys judged

So new, this sex toy type doesn’t have a definite name still! You might call ’em: pulsating dildos, pulsators, gyrating vibrators, gyrating dildos, gyro-quake vibrators, jump-thrusting dildos, or my personal favorite, “shake ‘n’ quake dildo” ๐Ÿ˜„:

The terminology’s unclear, but you’ll know ’em when you see ’em. Because: all vibrators in this unique class include a big round ball under their pulsating dildo’s shaft.

The best pulsating dildos that gyrate too are speedier & more impactful vs. the Fun Factory Stronic pulsating dildos (1st released a decade ago). My findings on each gyrating, pulsating dildo’s pros & cons after full testing!:

Pulsating Dildos Best-Of Recap:

All pulsating sex toys here are made from 100% body-safe materials that do not degrade: silicone exteriors, ABS plastic remotes and cores.

Revolution Tsunami & Earthquake

“Rocking” describes how all 3 of the Revolution gyrating-pulsators wave their shafts back-and-forth. A full inch range of rotating power: Intense as you suction-cup the Revolution Earthquake down, and watch it shake.

Once inserted, the Revolution Tsunami’s my favorite: its bulbous end quivering as an automatic G-spot massager. I can lie back, enjoy it pumping against my spot, while the vibrating ball stimulates my clit. That’s versus the Revolution Earthquake, a more streamlined pulsating dildo (= slimmer G-spot stimulation); and versus the Revolution Hurricane, a.k.a. bumpin’ butt beads.

Revolution pulsating dildos have a low-level vibration running underneath the three speeds of gyration. If you’re looking for the most potent vibes, see our next contender:

โœ… Revolution dildo Pros: Intense waving motion. Three different dildo shapes. Double-ended Tsunami is easiest for a partner to hold. Remote control.
โŒ Cons: Vibration is present, not powerful. Remote’s 2 AAA batteries not included.
๐Ÿ’ธ Price: $99 or $109 USD

Blush Impressions NY Gyro-Quake

Whammy! The Impressions New York “gyro-quake” dildo is the most focused G-spot / prostate stimulation, and contains the strongest โšกvibrating motor of any pulsating dildo.

This pulsing-thrust dildo’s got 9 vibrating functions (3 steady speeds that remind me of Lovense Lush; + 6 patterns) plus the 3 steady pulsating dildo speeds.

Whoa, the Impressions NY’s notched ridge delivers targeted spot stimulation. It’s too much for me personally, but I’m glad it exists: I handed it over to my partner for anal + P-spot testing. Once it’s positioned, he loves the “lie back, relax, breathe, and feel it all” play here. The 40-minute run-time is limiting, but it’s a full-on sensation session when the Impressions pulsating dildo is rolling โ€” how it thumps the prostate like crazy.

โœ… Impressions dildo Pros: Strongest vibration, independently controlled! Firm, focused G-spot or P-spot stimulation. Best for prostate play (vs. other pulsators).
โŒ Cons: No remote control.
๐Ÿ’ธ Price: $89.99

Maia Tegan

My absolute favorite G-spot auto-thrusting dildo, I discovered the Tegan pulsating dildo was within 1 day of owning it.

Awww, that ridge: semi-realistic, with two lovely ripples that amp up the “G-spot pulsing on repeat.” I get it wedged in place, positioned so it thump-rocks my spot โ€” and so the vibrating ball is clitorally stimulating, too.

Tegan’s pulsating motion makin’ it blur!

At over 400 pulses / minute, Maia Tegan’s no slouch for speed: It moves up-and-down more consistently, vs. gyro-rotating-waving like Revolution pulsating dils. That’s perfect when Tegan is locked in place above my pubic bone, pummeling (smoothly!) my whole G-spot + A-spot region.

It’s not a realistic-feeling / dual-density dildo (which I require sometimes on my sex machine). Yet when I (PMS’ing) crave more pressure, then the Tegan’s pulsating moves are the way. ๐Ÿ’— its head shape, thumping inside.

โœ… Maia Tegan Pros: Rippled, semi-realistic head suits my G-spot best. “Jumps” more up-and-down = more thrusting than gyrating vs. other models. Rumbly vibration built-in. Rechargeable remote control too.
โŒ Cons: Less forward-rocking motion vs. Revolution.
๐Ÿ’ธ Price: $89.99

vs. Fun Factory Stronic pulsators

The Fun Factory Stronic pulsating dildo lineup comprises 3 classic shapes in 2024: Stronic G, Stronic Real, and Stronic Surf; plus the compact Stronic Petite.

For their auto-pulsing thrusts, the Stronic toys were on top of the world in the mid-2010sโ€”back when no other body-safe, handheld toys thrust themselves automatically. I got the Stronic G, then the Stronic Real, before owning a sex machine:

Stronic Real, top; Stronic Surf; and Stronic G, bottom.

And the laziness of lying back and enjoying, not having to move anything by hand, was exhilarating back then.

But today, just turning on any Stronic toy feels disappointing, because of how much harder the Maia Tegan and Revolution Tsunami / Earthquake pulsating dildos thrum โ€” in contrast with the Stronic pulsators’ light-weight jiggles. Personally, I’d rather own a pulsating dildo that goes hard for 40 minutes, vs. a Stronic that jiggles for hours per charge: YMMV.

โœ… Stronic pulsator Pros: Quietest option here. Waterproof submersible. Fast jiggling. Longer battery life (3 hours).
โŒ Cons: Don’t vibrate. Motion feels less emphatic vs. gyro-ball pulsators. More expensive. Draggier silicone. Crack between silicone shaft + ABS handle. Handle gets scuffed up.
๐Ÿ’ธ Price: $169.99 each

Pulsating dildo PROS & CONS, all models

Pros & cons for new quaking pulsating dildos, with a Premium sex machine in mind as the best competitor:

Pulsating dildo Pros: โœ…

  • Incredibly fast motion.
  • Lighter & much easier to hide and transport vs. a fucking machine.
  • Thrusting plus vibration.
  • Less expensive. (4ร— less cost vs. a good fuck machine.)

Cons:

  • Only 3 speeds (vs. a wide adjustable range for a machine).
  • Must brace in position.
  • Slightly louder.
  • Limited battery-life.

How to Position a pulsating dildo

For all pulsating dildos, the simplest way to position is:

  • Lie back in bed, your head propped up by a pillow. Get comfy.
  • Place a thin pillow (or blanket or towels) between your legs,
  • And brace the bottom of the pulsator against it. This “wedge” will anchor the pulsing vibrator, keeping it moving forward into your body.
  • Don’t forget the water-based lubricant (or hybrid lubricant) for comfort: The pulsating speed requires it!

Your other option when positioning a pulsating sex toy is: suction-cup dildo riding. Maia Tegan, Revolution Earthquake, Impressions New York, and Revolution Hurricane all include a suction base. To use, hold the pulsating dildo’s gyro-ball on the shaft side, then press it down so the suction cup seals on a smooth surface, like a bathtub edge.

Battery Life & recharging

These thrusting pulsators all use a plug-in charger. You insert its prong into the hole marked out on the back of the shaft under the letters DC (for Maia Tegan and Impressions New York), or you find the flap that lifts up on the NS Revolution gyrators (seen here).

Charging hole for the Impressions NY pulsating dildo: Plug the charging prong into the hole under letters DC.

40 minutes is the maximum run-time for all roto-ball-powered pulsating dildos โ€” so they’re not extended use toys, and you’ll want to recharge after each session. Stronic toys do have a longer battery life, up to 3 hours.

  1. Hello! I have a few questions about the Uberrime Maxime: apparently it is very g-spotty, yet you don’t include it in your list of your best g spot dildos. Looking at its product photos versus the Splendid, its coronal ridge seems subdued. Does it offer more g-spot impact than the Splendid, or is the sensation simply different? Do you like the Maxime? Why would I choose it versus something else?
    Thank you for your time,
    Andie

  2. Oh yes! And Pleasure Tailor has recently come out with some new realistic products, I noticed. Just judging by their product photos, do you think that they may truly be “ultra realistic?” And between those and the Uberrime Amante, which do you think might be better balanced? I am quite excited to try the Amante, really because of the sheer novelty of triple density silicone–the shape is kinda ehh, IMO. With a more expansive market, though, I am wondering if it’s worth my money, you know? I wonder if there are better options now that PT is expanding, especially since the Amante is so expensive.

    • A really realistic dual-density dildo is the best feel for me. Triple+ dildos can feel harder outside, giving more spot stimulation, but they lack the super-soft direct skin contact, and that’s become a huge down-side for me as I’ve gotten where I use my dildos on a sex machine 98% of the time because it’s soooo much easier, and anything not-super-soft outside is a big “meh”.

  3. These look great! How is the volume level on the vibrating pulsators? I definitely donโ€™t expect a Stronic level of quiet, but which ones are okay if privacy is an issue? (I once turned on an early-model Velvet Thruster in a store and it sounded so distractingly wheezy; of course, they may have improved the mechanism by now.) Thank you so much!

    • Yeah, they’re definitely not quiet. They’re mostly at 55 decibels on each gyro-pulsator’s high speed, so, similar to Magic Wand Rechargeable on high. It’s like a jiggly whirring. The only way to hide the noise if living with family or roommates is using these in the shower.
