Review: Fun Factory Stronic G Thrusting Dildo

I almost refused to review the Fun Factory Stronic G Self-Thrusting Pulsator. But wow, am I glad I changed my mind, because I feel like I’ve won the sex toy lottery every time I use this pulsating dildo!

You see, I’m picky about powered toys. Insertable vibes just don’t do a lot for me, and I wondered whether the Stronic G would also be wasted on me. In the end, I accepted a Stronic G for one simple reason: 44 of the 64 posts I’d published at the time included the verb “thrust.”

I’m all about thrusting: the back-and-forth, in-and-out of vaginal intercourse is it for me.1 I thrust my dildos by hand, and I ride them, and sometimes I have my partner jerk them for me. But before the Fun Factory Stronic G, I’d never had a sex toy that could thrust itself.

Fun Factory Stronic G review

Fun Factory’s Stronic G is the newest of the Stronic line of self-thrusting pulsators—these toys do not vibrate, they jiggle, FAST. The now-discontinued original Stronic, the Stronic Eins (a.k.a. Stronic One), received rave reviews, for the most part.2

I’d been eyeing the first Stronic for a couple years because I am so into thrusting. But I was worried that the older model it wouldn’t provide the kind of big-headed, forward-curving pressure that my G-spot enjoys. Then the Stronic G came along!

Like its name indicates, the Stronic G is meant to be a G-spotting toy. I just had to know whether it would fulfill my need for intense vaginal stimulation.

First, the Basics

All the Stronic Pulsator toys are propelled by a magnetic system that Fun Factory says was inspired by NASA technology. This tech is one of the reasons why a Stronic pulsator’s price is higher than almost any vibrator: the other reasons being the high-quality materials and German labor laws.

The Stronic G’s settings are interesting: they’re called “7 speeds” and “3 patterns/rhythm settings,” but…this is a thruster. So, unlike with a vibrator, there are really no “steady” settings, only less erratic ones. Here are Fun Factory’s names for them, along with my interpretations:

  • algorithmic” (= low-intensity thrusts alternating with huge spikes),
  • perfect start” (= a nice, slow rhythm),
  • constant mode” (= various speeds of “normal” thrusting), and
  • dynamic mode” (= crazy weirdness).

The G’s insertable length (the silicone-coated part of the toy) is 5.75”. I appreciate that Fun Factory doesn’t assume that the G-spot has to be 2” inside all vaginas; I usually insert pretty much the full length of the toy because that’s what feels best for me. The maximum diameter of the Stronic G’s shaft is 1.65”, at the bottom of the insertable length. The prominent head starts out with a slight taper and then reaches 4.5” girth at what you might call the coronal ridge (the most bulbous part).

My Stronic G is “pool blue”: what I’d describe as a faded robin’s egg blue. But the toy is available in bright pink and in purple too.

The technical info says that the Stronic G’s battery life is 45 minutes on the highest speed, so I’ve found that mine will last maybe an hour and fifteen minutes on a full charge (more on my setting preferences later). Of course the G is USB rechargeable, with magnetized charging nodes to match the magnets inside. If you’ve ever had problems with this kind of charger coming detached, then let me assure you, this is a charger that isn’t going anywhere.3 Those magnets are strong.

And now for the most interesting set of magnets: How would the Stronic G’s magnet-propelled thrusting feel inside my vag?

In Use: SCORE

As soon as I’d charged the Stronic G enough to turn it on, I knew I was going to like it. Some people use squishy stress balls to relieve tension; for me, watching the G move back and forth has the same calming effect. I like to hold it in my hands and feel the shake-weight-like motion as it thrusts. It brightens my day!

In my sex-toy-lottery fantasies, I imagine myself like Scrooge McDuck, swimming in golden luxury (Stronic in hand!).

And as stress-relieving as the toy is in my hands, in my vag it’s so much more. When I’m close to orgasm with the Fun Factory Stronic G, I feel like I’m flying—or maybe like I’m at the top of a rollercoaster, just before the cart drops off and gravity kicks in.

This prolonged, euphoric sensation isn’t quite like my typical orgasms with a dildo. I think using the Stronic G is different because first, I’m able to really focus on the sensation it creates inside me, since I can be perfectly still while using it. And second, as powerful as the magnetic system is, the G’s stroke length isn’t especially long. (Check out the Velvet Thrusters instead if you want a longer, more realistic stroke length—like a compact fucking machine.) So, instead of gliding in and out like a dildo or a penis might,4 the Stronic G homes in on an inch or less of vaginal wall and stays there. The G’s pressure is focused, and persistent.

Before I started testing the Stronic G, I was a bit worried about whether the head would be too focused. It does stick out a whole helluva lot, and I’m pretty sensitive. But—yay—the Stronic G’s slightly-soft silicone makes that big ridge quite comfortable. And the Stronic G’s outer layer of silicone is thick enough that, in effect, it’s a dual-density dildo: a soft(-ish) outer layer over the hard mechanical core. Best of all for me, the firm core doesn’t extend into the Stronic’s protruding head.

If you do need firmer stimulation, I’d still recommend the Stronic G because the silicone isn’t too yielding—nothing like the amazing squish of the VixSkin Mustang dual-density dildo. The Stronic G’s head holds its shape even in the fastest thrusting patterns.

Stronic patterns

Speaking of patterns…as I said earlier, there are a lot. The “Perfect Start” pattern is well named. It’s gentle, rhythmic, not overwhelming. Hit the plus button, though, and the thrusting becomes more insistent. Hit it once more, and it’s urgent. Finally, on the last setting in “constant mode”—called “Quickie”—the Stronic G moves at a rapid-fire pace. Though the toy jiggles around like crazy on this setting, for me it’s a bit overwhelming, and I find that the stroke length is shorter than on the slower “constant” speeds.

As for the more-patterned settings, most are erratic, definitely not like a human would usually thrust. Out of the “dynamic mode” ones, I do have some fun with “Rollerball,” especially with the really intense, rumbly part in the middle. But “Vienna Waltz” is, quite frankly, irritating. And “Rumba” is like being jackhammered (with something soft). For me, this pattern is no, no, and no. I also just can’t with any of the algorithmic modes. But that’s OK, because “Perfect Start” and the first couple constant-mode settings (“Samba” and “Rumble”) are exactly what I’m wanting from the toy 95% of the time: simple, back-and-forth thrusting. No bells and whistles needed.

So I usually just lie back and stick to the steadier settings. (Unless, you know, I’m looking to live out my robotic fantasies with the Stronic’s algorithmic patterns. ????) When I first lay down to use the G, I was so psyched to discover that I could use it hands-free. To really enjoy hands-free play, I do need a little bit of an upward angle—so the G’s shaft rubs the front of my vaginal mouth better. This is easily achieved either by folding up a T-shirt and putting it right under the Stronic; or by putting a pillow under my butt and letting gravity create that angle. (Or both!)

Either way, the Stronic G’s head sticks out so much that it catches on my pubic bone with each downstroke and doesn’t leap out. In fact, for me, it stays in place well enough that I can get up off the bed, shuffle twenty feet across the room, start snacking (because, you know, the masturbation workout takes it out of me), and then decide to write a tweet about all of this—all while the Stronic G is still thrusting away inside my vag.

I also find it great for multitasking! Texting, reading, and any number of other activities are now possible while I’m actively being penetrated. Strange but true story: I can now say that I’ve orgasmed while brushing my teeth.

But, one important note: I can’t guarantee that you’ll have the exact same results; anatomy varies so much person to person. Some will definitely have to hold their Stronic G in place or else the toy will jump out. I get the feeling that my pubic bone must stick out a good bit, judging by how incredibly difficult I find inserting a menstrual cup to be. (My fingers just can’t get up there, yo.)

One last note: all this thrusting will require a good water-based lube, of course. But I’ve found the Stronic G’s matte finish isn’t too “draggy”—it doesn’t create a huge amount of friction (like some people felt the Stronic Eins did). It’s not the glossiest toy out there, but it is a smoother feel than the extremely draggy, sanded silicone that Fun Factory uses in its dildos, like the imposing Boss.5 So, in creating the G, Fun Factory has listened to popular opinion and used a smoother silicone finish. In use, the feeling isn’t too different from that of the Tantus Vamp Super Soft.

Last Words: Yay, Magnetic Technology!

Now that I’ve tried a Fun Factory Stronic pulsator, I understand the hype. And this isn’t just any Stronic: the G is designed for really amazing G-spot stimulation. Plus it has a new-and-improved, less-draggy silicone finish.

The Stronic G is addictive, to be honest. It’s a toy that does the work for me. If it’s late and I’m feeling tired (but still kinda horny), or I just want to do something else with my hands while masturbating, the Stronic G is the toy I know I’ll go for.

I’m not giving up on my normal dildos, of course: they give me other sensations, like broad and squishy, or super-realistic, or heavily textured. In contrast with jerking a dildo, the Stronic G’s strokes are more subtle. But the constant-mode patterns are repetitive in the best way, and feeling the focused (but slightly soft) head tug at my G-spot, over and over, is mind-blowing. I often have intense orgasms with dildos, but I’m amazed by how long the Stronic G makes my climaxes last.

Of course the price tag is high…but the Stronic G is some serious technology. It’s not a sexbot, but it’s pretty damn good. Really, the only vagina owners who I can envision not enjoying the Stronic G are those who generally find vaginal penetration uncomfortable, especially with toys of a slightly-above-average girth. Anyone who’s extremely sensitive to texture may be put off by the head. Other than that, I would recommend this toy to anyone and everyone who enjoys vaginal penetration.

Now I’m gonna go have an orgasm while I’m putting on my makeup for my dinner date—just because I can with the Stronic G.

NOTES

  1. This is a personal preference. I fully agree that everyone, whatever gender they might be, should explore different kinds of stimulation rather than just assuming that penetration always has to be the ultimate goal of sex.
  2. More on the main complaint about it—the dragginess of the silicone—at the end of this review.
  3. Also, I’d like to say that I appreciate that the charging cord is red, so it doesn’t blend into all the other (black) charging cords of the world.
  4. At least if you’re me thrusting the dildo. Your style may vary!
  5. A small percentage of people (myself included) like this friction, the majority feel the need to use an extra helping of lube, and others find the texture downright painful.

  1. The more I read about the Stronic G, the more I want one. It seems like everything I love. And after reading this review I now know that it’s softer silicone as well, which I adore. If only I could afford one… So I’m holding onto hope that I’ll win one in Piph’s giveaway 😀

  2. Why did I click on this? After reading such an awesome review it will be even harder to wait for the slow shipping of my G. Thanks for the comparison of the finish across FF staples, my Eins lived in a drawer for a long time (now is on loan) because often I didn’t have the patience to get turned on enough to handle the texture.
