Viben Obsession Review: Super-Power Wand Vibrator

I didn’t believe it was possible. The Viben Obession is a rechargeable & water-resistant wand vibrator that out-powers Magic Wands by Vibratex / Hitachi. Shockingly, Obession is stronger than a Magic Wand masager; and as powerful as a Doxy Die Cast perma-corded wand.1 BUT: You can take this Obsession wand in the shower. You can play freely, without having a cord dangling like the classic Doxy wands or Magic Wand Plus does.

But it’s 2021, and the game has changed: we’re now seeing true power vibrators that do not tie you into a wall outlet. Progress! The Viben Obsession’s price is phenomenal too, at $84.99 now; check price (vs. $129.99 for Magic Wand R, or $189.99 for Doxy Die Cast โ€” that’s $105 more than Viben’s new wand here). So, in keeping with my vibrator ranking guides, this Viben Obsession review will stack it up against other high-quality wand massager options: What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? But I’ll start with my experience, because I’m truly excited about the Obession; then jump into creative ways you might use a splashproof power wand… Skip to the end for 10% discount code & overall ranking.

Holy mofo, I did a lot of wand vibrator testing here. Obession’s freshly washed silicone head, far left.

My Experience with Viben Obsession

Faster doesn’t always mean better, orgasmically. But I knew the Viben Obsession was a winner when I turned it on and came about 30 seconds later. Just standing in my kitchen one morning, previously unaroused; then BOOM, after I put the Obsession against my pelvic floor. Usually I take longer with clit toys! Being very multi-orgasmic, though, I’ll take the first one as fast as it can arrive, then just keep going…

So I tested the Viben Obsession more. Against a slew of other vibrators, the full pile of wand massagers (the strongest clitoral vibrator category). And I kept circling back to the Viben Obession, thinking I’d maybe misremembered how strong it was. I’ve had this wand vibe for almost two months now, and I can confidently say that it is:

A water-resistant wand that’s more orgasmic than the Magic Wand โ€” when I want it fast.

Viben Obession waterproof wand massager vs. Magic Wand Rechargeable
NO WORRIES about water dripping all down into the Obession’s neck, left; like you’d have with the Magic Wand, right.

This Obession wand has made me think of mythical creatures; it’s like a unicorn among the mundane reality of other wand vibrators. Because it’s got this much power but you don’t have to keep it plugged into the wall? And you can take it in the shower!? (Or squirt all over it worry-free?!)

There is one potential downside, for some users: the Obsession wand’s very intense on its “low” power, the first function. It has no gentle speed progression: Indeed, the Magic Wand Rechargeable is superior for moving from low rumbles to more power! In contrast, Viben Obsession jumps right into the deep end, as strong on LOW as the Magic Wand Rechargeable’s top speed. You may even want to use Obession through underwear or shorts / pants as a barrier to start out!

I’m not one to do things halfway, so I’ve got this wand going right against my skin โ€” where it’s best for quicker 10 minute sessions. I fit in a first orgasm and then edge toward others, before I’m overstimulated and want to back down to a less powerful vibrator, or a good dual-density dildo. Even my favorite all-around vibrators and their rumbly power are weaker than the Viben Obession: We-Vibe Nova 2, Pillow Talk Sassy, and Satisfyer Dual Pleasure are practically strolls through the park after the *sprinting* pace of the Obsession for clitoral stimulation.

But a big plus is that the Viben Obsession has + and โ€“ control buttons, for easier speed changes. That’s necessary for times when I’ve gotten used to speed #1 and moved up to #2 or #3… but was like, “NOPE, definitely want it lower again.” I can simply hit that “down” button and not need to cycle through all 8 functions. Function #6 is also the best break from high-speed steady โšก: it’s a short pause between escalating bursts, which lets me feel the tingling in my vulva without frustrating me too much. (Long pauses are so WTF in vibrator patterns: irritating.)

HOW Do You Use a Wand? For “Vanilla” or Kinkier Fun

Because this vibe is so strong for a handheld toy โ€” you’re only getting more power if you get a Motorbunny to sit on / for your partner to sit on2 โ€” it lends itself to kinkier uses, as well as to “vanilla” fun like pulling the Obsession out to employ its strength in the bathtub.

Here are some ideas for how you might wanna use a powerful wand, especially a splashproof one:

  • Bondage / forced orgasm play. With heavy-duty handcuffs, and wrist cuffs, I want someone to restrain me… and then tease me, off and on, with the Viben Obession. Before applying its large, silicone head to my body and telling me I need to come on it. Magic Wands are often used for “forced orgasm” play, so Obession’s power fits perfectly for this use too. (Add on some nipple clamps for an extra twist?)
  • Lying down in bed: Classic. On your back, relaxed. Hold the wand head steady, or rub it up and down as a clit + vulva massager. Or lie on your side, holding the Obession’s handle steady, while moving your hips and rubbing all up on the head.
  • During doggy style: More clit stimulation, for better orgasms: holding the wand handle with one hand, while bent over and bracing your weight on the other arm. (Grab a pillow for support, too?) Obsession is gonna vibrate the heck out of the penis entering from behind, as well.
  • Bathtub or shower: Shower is a favorite for me! It’s tougher to orgasm standing up, IMO, so the Obession’s extra power is very helpful.
  • Extreme penetration. Penetration to match the Viben Obsession’s power? You’d need something BIG. A big dildo by SquarePegToys or Hankey’s Toys, perhaps; or if you’ve got a man (or other penis-haver) involved, have him hold the wand… and maybe put on a penis extender too, for the wide stretch. See VixSkin sheaths (like Colossus or Holster), Boneyard Meaty for smaller dicks & ballsacks, or Oxballs Double Penetrators for EXTREME play with an extreme wand. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ
  • Perineum / indirect prostate massager. The Viben Obession can be used elsewhere besides the clitoris too: for strong vibration on nipples, penis head/frenulum, or anyone’s perineum (that’s the area between testicles and anus, or vagina and anus). I also know there are guys out there who want prostate stimulation but aren’t ready to actually stick something in their butt: they want “indirect prostate massagers.” Now, an indirect massage won’t have the same feeling as actually pushing into the prostate via the rectum, BUT, a really strong vibrator is your closest alternative. I’m feeling indirect G-spot stimulation from the Obsession, because of how well those strong vibes travel, so I’m certain that some prostate stimulation can be achieved with it. See direct prostate vibrator picks by All Male Sex Toys here.

And you: What else can you think of to do with a big, strong vibrator like this?

Viben Obsession Functions & Product Features

Obession by Viben Toys has 8 total vibration functions: 3 steady vibration intensities + 5 patterned rhythms. I’ve used the steady speeds 95% of the time, focusing on speeds #1 and #2.

It’s water-resistant, meaning you can clean it with running water in the sink / let water splash over it. Don’t submerge it the bathtub.

The Viben Obsession is not quiet. Wand vibrators aren’t discreet sex toys in general, and the Viben Obsession is louder than average because it’s so powerful. It ranges from 58 to 63 decibels, vs. the 38 to 53 decibels of a Magic Wand Rechargeable: indeed, here noise level correlates almost exactly with vibration intensity. You turn up the power, you turn up the volume. I can hide Obsession’s noise if I’m using it in the shower, but would not use the Viben Obession while my children are at home.

Obsession’s head is coated in a smooth, “silky,” matte silicone that’s standard in body-safe vibrators these days. The head is just over 2 inches wide, or a fifth an inch narrower than a Magic Wand head. It’s close enough that it should still fit Magic Wand attachments.

The royal purple color is really pretty! The grooves in the head don’t trap fluids, luckily, no extra work to clean.

The Viben Obsession’s neck is marginally more flexible than a Magic Wand’s. It feels like Obsession’s neck was engineered to bend, rather than the Magic Wand’s bending sheerly because the neck is thin. Obsession’s neck seems durable enough, but I wouldn’t force it toward a 90-degree angle consistently (it’s more likely to break that way). Hold it against your clit, don’t contort it forcefully or expect it to withstand full-body-weight pressure long-term.

Viben toys carry a standard 1-year manufacturer’s warranty in case the toy fails randomly one day (as sometimes happens with all vibrator brands). Viben is not a widely known brand, but it’s backed by a major California sex toy distributor that clearly knows how to source FOR-REAL motors (and other components like smooth silicone).

It’s USB rechargeable. The rechargeable battery life seems quite long on this wand, maybe since I’m using Obsession for shorter sessions than, say, the Pillow Talk Sassy. My clit gets overwhelmed after 15 minutes of Obsession’s strength! (Seriously reminds me of the Motorbunny Sybian-style vibe that way.) I’d estimate the run time per charge at 2 hours (mainly used on function #1, “low” speed).

Vs. Other High Power Wand Vibrators

The Viben Obsession is for strength, through and through. If you want a fuller speed range (and less power on high, too), other wands are worth considering.

I’m a little sad I’m neglecting the We-Vibe Wand now, since I’ve loved that toy… but I keep getting pulled in by the Viben Obsession, these days. Truth: The We-Vibe Wand boasts an adjustable-intensity “toggle switch” that gives full control over its power range. I like the We-Vibe’s low speeds sometimes, for sure. Like when I’m just holding it between my legs in the shower, chilling while I’m shampooing my hair. But the killer point, the deathblow that Viben deals to We-Vibe’s Wand: the Viben Obsession’s first speed is rumblier than the We-Vibe Wand’s closest intensity: the latter Wand’s “high power,” starts to feel a tad itchy.

Wand vibrators in my shower: Obsession vs. We-Vibe Wand.

As mentioned, the Magic Wands do progress more evenly from low speed to high speed (both Magic Wand Rechargeable and Magic Wand Plus have 4 steady intensity levels, vs. the Viben Obsession’s 3). I’m not getting rid of my Magic Wand Rechargeable, for sure, whose other big selling point for me is how the top of the head is softer: it’s coated in firm silicone but you can press down on it, like there’s a foam piece encased inside the head.

The Viben Obsession reminded me of the FemmeFunn Ultra Wand at first glance. (And by “glance,” I mean “press against my genitals.”) Both have 3 steady speeds, both start very strong and then jump to maybe 20% stronger than that. In the end, the Obsession is bigger and therefore can fit more motor power than the Ultra Wand: my wand guide ranks Obession an 11 (out of 10, I ran out of numbers) vs. Ultra Wand’s 9 / 10. I’m really grateful that the Viben Obsession has better button control than the Ultra Wand, which ridiculously (like all FemmeFunn products) forces you to cycle through all the functions via a single control button. Obsession’s neck is less flexible than Ultra Wand’s too, an advantage for some users.

The Lovense Domi 2 is the strongest app-controlled vibrator on the market, but is still overpowered by the Viben Obsession. I thought the Domi 2 started kinda strong until I met the Viben Obsession. NAH, not anymore, Obsession is so much more forceful. But the Lovense toy of course has an amazing app for customizing the vibration, perfect if you do like to play with a partner / partners long-distance.

And last, the Viben Obession’s strength is only equaled by the Doxy wands, like the Die Cast (the most premium safe-silicone-headed Doxy). Obsession has half the amount of steady speeds as a Doxy Die Cast: Obession’s first intensity is stronger (and rumblier) than Die Cast intensity #2, then Obsession function #2 is about like Die Cast #4, and they end so similar. Again, Obsession is a stand-out for me since I’m not into being tied into a wall outlet: Doxy cords (on all vibes except the smaller Doxy 3R rechargeable, whose pitch I wasn’t impressed with) are permanently attached to the vibrators.

Obsession Summary & Ranking

You want high-power, this water-resistant wand by Viben will deliver just that.

It’s simply a fantastic vibrator, if you do like wide and strong vibration. (If you’re a first-time vibrator buyer, then you should probably pick a toy with lower intensities first.) Vibrators don’t permanently alter or desensitize anyone’s nerve endings, but you can get used to stronger flavors of vibrator with more experience. And the Viben Obsession is potent from intensity #1: rumbling, reverberating, almost attacking with vibrating vigor.

Splashproof and cordless, the Obession is a shocker of a powerful wand massager for clitoral orgasms. I would’ve never believed these claims if someone had told me: but then I felt the Viben Obsession. Like the Lora DiCarlo Baci, it’s a suprising new find, by a new brand, that’s motivated me to revise a vibrator guide.
