Lovense Domi Review: Strongest Remote Control Vibrator

My review title says it all: Lovense Domi is *the* strongest remote controlled vibrator. Its smaller body holds all the Magic Wand Rechargeable’s power—plus Domi has long-distance capability and custom speed control through the Lovense app. Before it arrived at my doorstep, I’d heard that the Lovense (not Lovesense!) Domi was powerful and rumbly too. This opinion seemed believable, based on how strong I knew the Lovense Lush 2 was. Still, I wasn’t 100% sure this larger Lovense vibrator’s motor would live up to my high standards till I turned it on…

Lovense Domi’s Functions & Strength

Domi’s first vibe function is a rumbly steady speed. The vibes travel DEEP with this one, I promise you that. I knew this was gonna be good. Then I turned on speed #2—and it was a step UP. Domi’s power seems to increase twofold.1 Domi’s final preprogrammed steady speed, #3, is of course even stronger. But it was the massive jump to function #2 that convinced me Domi was stronger than Lush 2—and therefore the most powerful remote control vibrator in the game.

Domi’s highest intensity matches the Magic Wand Rechargeable. That’s impressive, given that (Hitachi/Vibratex) Magic Wands are universally known for their power. The biggest difference between these two mighty wand vibrators is the size of their heads: Magic Wands measure 2.25 inches across, vs. Domi’s 1.5 width. Put the two wands next to each other, and Domi’s head looks diminutive. Almost teeny! If you’re a true lover of broad stimulation, then the Magic Wands’ (or Doxy Wands’) “bigness” will be better for you.

The Lovense Domi, in contrast, is a very average width, a mid-point in the “broad vs. focused stimulation” spectrum. It’s in the medium size range that I recommend to anyone who’s never owned a vibe before. And with its smaller head, Domi is easier to incorporate into sex with a partner than a bulkier “full-size” wand.

But enough about size… Domi’s 4 preprogrammed patterns can be a real ride. Rising, falling, cresting, and shaking, the intensities are just like Domi’s steady patterns: strong. They range from “titillating” to “frustrating,” with the way they change pace, roll, and sometimes cut out.

I like being teased, to a degree: but I also like understanding what’s happening to my body. That’s why I prefer using the patterned functions through the Lovense app rather than the preprogrammed settings. The visuals there let me see exactly what’s going on, then choose what I want.

Why I Love the Lovense App

I really have to admire a company that seems to come out of left field and then, several years later, has a range of vibes connected to an app that, IMO, is superior to We-Vibe’s We-Connect app. With more features, more intuitive control, and easier connectivity. Lovense’s growth is an underdog-kinda story.

Lovense’s app is so easy to navigate. The “Remote” control button is dead-center: the main selling point of all Lovense vibes, right there to be harnessed. “Close Range” and (again) “Long Distance” appear at the bottom of the screen, and then there are user-programmed patterns (thousands of them!) accessible in the bottom right corner.

I did a lot of “Close Range” testing on myself…but I’ll start with the highlight, Lovense’s long-distance remote control capability.

Remote Control

Since my long-distance partner and I had been playing with Lush recently, we were already linked in the app. I’d chosen the “Allow control without requests” option to allow him access whenever. Once we’re both in the app and my toy is on, he’s able to start manipulating its vibes immediately.

He likes to test the limits—make abrupt pattern changes, intense escalations in speed—to see my reaction. And I like it too; like being made to respond to a dramatic rippling sequence that I wouldn’t have imagined myself. Especially when he’s listening.

When we’re looking at each other through the video function, for a while it doesn’t feel like we’re a thousand miles away. He’s right there, urging me on, arousing me directly. Most days, our late-night routine includes a long conversation during which I test the latest toys in my review lineup and/or jerk one of my favorite dildos. But him actually using his fingers to decide what I’ll feel half a second later is more intimate. More personal, with him being 100% involved in my orgasms. (It’s also less work for me—I get to be lazy, possibly even lazier than with a self-thrusting dildo.)

It’s worth saying that the Lovense app is equally functional if you’re not in a long-distance relationship. All the remote control options will be same, except you (probably) won’t need the built-in video feature as often. You’ll see your partner react right there in front of you.

Patterned Self-Play

If long-distance play is about giving over control, then using the Lovense Domi solo is the opposite. I am 100% in charge of the vibe intensity, visualized through wiggly colored lines.

My first discovery with Domi: alternating between vibration and rotation can be practically rollercoaster-like. In all the strongest wands, you can feel the vibes rotating around inside the heads if you’re focusing. With Domi, I just keep filtering out the “Vibration + Rotation” options once I’m in the “Patterns” section of the app. (Accessible through the bottom righthand corner of the Close Range home screen.)

App screenshots: Home screen, left; “My Patterns” (create your own), center; and “Patterns” (created by other users), right.

The most popular rotating pattern, “069176,” has been known to give me a series of small orgasms as I sit back and let its 1 minute, 36 seconds, roll through my pelvic floor. Then do it all over again. (And most likely finish on the steady settings after that!) “Rotating Circus,” popular rotating option #3 at the time of this writing, started out pretty fun—but then I decided that I might like to whip the pattern-creator once I got to the intermittent cutting-on-and-off section of that pattern.

I can’t emphasize “There’s so much to explore” enough. You could literally spend an entire day going through different Lovense app patterns and only be at the tip of the iceberg.

Don’t want to sort through random patterns that might not turn you on, though? Just skip to “My Patterns” instead and do your own thing. I enjoy speeding-up and slowing-down the 4 preset ones there, especially Wave: it’s serious at 4x normal speed. Then I move its pace up…and down…and then up again! As much as I want.

And, with the pattern customization, I’ve been able to create a steadily increasing pattern that circumvents the big power jump between Domi’s preprogrammed speeds #1 and #2! You move your finger (or fingers, if you’re doing vibes plus rotation/contraction) up and down on the screen to increase/decrease intensity, then save it if you like it.

Domi Female Attachment

Lovense makes two silicone heads that fit Domi: the “Male” Attachment for penis and/or prostate; and the “Female” Attachment for clits and G-spots.

The latter attachment has a lot going on:

  • Clit “nubs” on opposite sides of the attachment head
  • Rippling ridges down the front, underneath the G-spot extension
  • Thin, flexible “ears” coming out the back
  • Plus a pointed tip between the ears

Truly, this attachment looks like an elephant with its long extension (trunk) in front and “ears” in back. I think it’s cute.

And functionally, the different textures on the attachment are another way that the Lovense Domi lets you explore what you like and customize the toy to your tastes. For example, I can’t work with the two nubby sides because I find that style of stimulation prickly and ineffective. So instead I checked out the broader “ears” first. They flap along with Domi’s vibrations. It’s a flippy sensation that’s not as powerful as Zalo Hero’s tongue-y motion, but interesting as a change of pace from Domi’s smooth head.

Personally, out of everything happening in the Domi Female Attachment, I’m most interested in the G-spot arm. It’s got a classic shape, a curved bulbous head. At 1 inch across at the bulb, it’s not large pressure; it’s akin to the small end of the Njoy Pure Wand (but without the weight of stainless steel behind it). Domi’s G-spot attachment channels another kind of heft: Domi’s strong vibes.

I love the way the bulb presses underneath my clit, first. Teasing the mouth of my vagina is even better; letting the patterns oscillate and holding back from putting it in until I’m super aroused. Once inserted, Domi’s G-spot extension is everything I’d want from a single finger—with a super-powerful motor inside. For me, the pressure feels most intense when the bulb is about an inch inside. The extension is flexible, so it’s not going to provide hard downward pressure if you thrust Domi. Just letting the bulb linger in place is most effective.

Technical Specs

The most important technical detail: the Lovense Domi is washable, but not fully splashproof and definitely not submersible. That means that—unlike Magic Wands and Doxies—you can clean the head and upper body easily in the sink with soap and water. The tricky part is the charging port, at the very bottom of Domi’s handle. Water shouldn’t enter into that lowest point, or you risk damaging the toy. (If you do want a fully submersible wand for bath and shower, I recommend the pretty-damn-strong FemmeFunn Ultra Wand.)

Domi is USB rechargeable, so you’re not tied to a wall outlet while using it.

Domi’s silicone is smooth enough, neither draggy nor silky. It’s “linty,” so you may want to wash prior to touching the toy to your genitals and definitely afterwards.

Last, Domi features a shiny metallic band through which flashing lights are visible. (Especially in the dark! In the daylight, the lights are barely noticeable.) If you’re averse to the flashing, then you can disable the lights through the Lovense app.

Overall Thoughts

If you’re ever owned a remote control toy whose weak vibes disappointed you—*raises hand*—then the Lovense Domi is here to save the day. With even more power than the Lovense Lush 2 wearable vibrator, Domi has the same app-controlled functionality. You can’t wear it out in public—but you can be controlled from 2 feet away, or 5,000 miles away. Or use the app to do your own thing, figure out what kind of vibration quality you like.

I rank Domi a 9.75 out of 10 for power (full wand vibe comparison here). It equals the Magic Wand Rechargeable for sheer strength, and is edged out only by the following  corded toys: Magic Wand Plus and Doxy Wands. Best of all, the Lovense Domi doesn’t start super-high frequency and buzzy; it lets you work your way up in intensity. (Especially if you create a custom pattern sloooowly progressing from Domi’s lowest setting up to top speed.)

Playing with the app is an adventure. So many choices, with all the user-created patterns. I found that I really like the rotating + vibrating ones and the wave-like functions. They’re really fun for edging and drawing out a masturbation session—doing something different.

And even more different than my usual masturbation routine is letting my partner control the vibe from a thousand miles away. Domi makes me forget the distance between me and him, as I look at him through the video function and he toys with all Domi’s strength—and then makes me come.

Find Domi here at Lovense.

Notes

  1. If you’re thrown off by this big power increase—like I was at first; I wished for easy “incremental” speed control like in the BMS PalmPower wands—then you can create a gradually-increasing-intensity pattern through the Lovense app, no problem, and save it for every future use.
