Luminous Dildo Review, Dual Density Silicone x 3 by Evolved

Luminous dildo review dual density silicone by Evolved 3 sizes palm blue

You like realistic dildos? If yes, then add a Luminous dildo by Evolved to your WANT list. I’m thrilled about how their dual-density silicone feels, and I know my realistic dongs: I’ve got somewhere between 40 and 50 two-layer toys now!

Luminous dildos are two layers of body-safe silicone—more lifelike, because they’ve got: (1) Skin-squish, plus (2) hardness underneath. Indeed, Evolved’s Luminous Glow in the Dark Duals are the one really affordable option I would recommend as (or more!) highly than the popular Neo Elite dildos. Why? Luminous dongs:

  • Are even squishier outside than Neo Elite.
  • Feel slightly more natural, IMO.
  • & Offer MORE SIZE choices. (So if you like a big dildo, or a small dildo, then Luminous is 💯% the way.)

This Luminous dildo review covers their feel; compares Luminous to other dual-density realistics; and talks about how they glow, how they stick, and how nicks are normal!

Luminous Dildo Silicone Feel

I’m swimming in realistic dildos, so it takes a lot to get me excited about a new one.

But the Luminous (glow-in-the-dark!) dildos here deserve praise. They’re a quality feel, for an awesome price. You have to handle one to really understand.

That outside layer, the see-through part, is so squeezable. It’s the firmness of a SquarePegToys SuperSoft lifecast dildo. If you’re sensitive, the comfort level is amazing. Even if you’re not sensitive, the softness is likely to make you think of the fleshy feel of a real hard-on.

Luminous-Stud-dildo-review-super-soft-silicone-balls
Squeeze-balls.

And the firm core: it’s there to keep the extra-soft outside from folding over as much while you thrust or ride. I sometimes love a pure super-soft dildo, but with extra length like in the Luminous Stud (over 8 inches insertable!), that hardness inside is the backing I need so it doesn’t feel too floppy in its lower shaft.

Like any extra-soft silicone, it’s sticky to the touch, so do use lubricant for the best glide.

The Luminous dildos are pretty smooth, with different skin textures on each size…

Three Sizes

Luminous silicone toys range in size: from Mini to mid-sized to “Stud” (= Large). Each size has a different shape too! I’ll share my experience with each one.

Luminous: Mid-Sized

1.5 inches max. insertable diameter × 6 inches insertable length

The “just Luminous” dildo is average penis width, and just over average length. It’s just a solid toy. Lube it up, stick it in, and it feels penis-like.

Luminous normal’s coronal ridge sticks out just enough for light tugging on G-spot or prostate. (Both sensitive spots like inward pressure.) It’s a fairly focused ridge, with the part that actually pulls on my G-spot being ≈0.8 inches diameter (vs. the toy’s 1.5 inch full width).

Since this toy is 6 full inches insertable, I have plenty of room to work with. I often end up thrusting it deep, using the Luminous dildo’s head for A-spot stimulation. And still orgasming easily—odd, because I’m all about G-spot orgasms.

This Luminous is realistic enough that a nice, fast thrust will get me there, no problem.1

Luminous Stud Dildo: The Big One

1.8–1.9 inches max. insertable diameter × 8 inches insertable length

💥 BAM! Pick this one if you like it large. *raises hand*

The “Stud’s” head. It seems so big. It takes up a lot of space, with how much the ridge sticks out—really amazing for G-spot. I played with the Luminous Stud twice before I urgently started adding it to dildo recommendation guides.

Luminous Stud dildo head finger pointing
Impressive.

It’s big comfort, though: squishy, forgiving, just the kind of toy I love to thrust. Fast, or slow; to clench around, or to ride. The ridge pops out so much, the Luminous Stud practically possesses my G-spot. Combine that prominent head and a lifelike feel (my 2 favorite things), and thinking about this toy makes my tits a little hard. It gets my blood rushing. It’s certainly not the largest toy in my collection,2 but dual-density dildos over 1.8 inches wide (and long too!) are rare.

Overall, I’m thankful I didn’t own the Luminous Stud in 2016 (when dual-density silicone options were fewer!), because I wouldn’t have gone on a grand dildo search and started this website. But I am very glad to have it in the collection now!!!

Luminous Mini Dildo!

1.3 inches max. insertable diameter × 3.75 inches insertable length!

I got this one out of its package and said, “Aww, it’s so cute!”

The Luminous Mini is a bit slim, and a lot short. Size comparison vs. the Neo Elite 7.5 Inch with Balls—it’s average-dick size—below:

Luminous Mini vs. Neo Elite 7.5 Inch with Balls silicone dildos

Luminous Mini’s head brings to mind the SquarePegToys Leo SuperSoft, in a smaller size.3 wavy, smaller than the shaft below, and has foreskin lines tugging right under its ridge.

The foreskin lines are definitely the most noticeable part of the Mini! They pull very gently.

The Mini’s girth actually isn’t tiny, not as small as its length. I was expecting the Mini to be super-easy to insert anally—but its squishy head, 1.25 inches diameter, required a bit of warmup and lube!

Overall, I’d put the Neo Elite 7.5 Inch as an easier anal toy, for folks like me who don’t play regularly and need a tapered stretch as a warmup. The 7.5 Inch’s longer length makes it simpler to reach around with too. But if you’re wanting to sit on the toy, then I get why Luminous Mini would be the better option, with its shortness.

Personally I would suggest the Luminous Mini most for vaginal plugging use: for letting the Mini sit in place while you’re lying back and using a clitoral toy. (We-Vibe Melt for the win!) Luminous Mini fits in place well for that use.

Vs. Other Dual-Density Silicone Dildos

Best Dual Density Dildo Recommendations ds

Vs. Colours Dual Density by NS Novelties

First, the Luminous dildos are what I’d hoped for from the NS Colours Dual Density dildos: Two layers of body-safe silicone, with suction cup, at a good price. The Colours Duals (in particular the larger one) have always felt too draggy to me, like I need lots o’ extra lube. Not to mention the Colours Dual silicone came peeling: I can see spots where the soft and hard layers are trying to separate, in both my Colours Duals.

Not so with the Evolved Luminous dildos, though the latter do have their own imperfections (discussed later).

Vs. Neo Elite by Blush

So happy have the Luminous toys made me, I’m torn between making them and Blush’s Neo Elite line my top realistic rec for first-time buyers—both lines have certain advantages. I honestly think that the feel of the Luminous toys is nicer than 3/4 Neo Elite once they’re lubed up. (Neo Elite 7.5 Inch is the most skin-like one, IMO, and matches Luminous dildos.)

In short, choose based on what shape you prefer:

Luminous (mid-sized) is a little less slick, more natural, than the Neo Elite 7.5 Inch with Balls. That said, the Neo Elite 7.5 Balls has a more jutting coronal ridge, so I’ve seen lots of praise for its prostate-seeking quality.

I would still recommend the 7.5 Inch Neo Elite (without balls) first for: (1) an easy anal toy, since it’s so tapered; (2) a comfortable vaginal toy for getting used to average girth, again since Neo Elite 7.5 Inch starts small (the head is tiny!).

Vs. Naked Addiction Dual by BMS

I’ve long reported how realistic I think the BMS Naked Addiction is, especially for a mass-produced toy. (VixSkin handmade dildos, $99–$129, generally get the most positive user feedback about how real they feel. I have thoughts on that.)

And the Luminous dildos are so, so close—plus even cheaper for the normal Luminous ($31.99, vs. $59.99 for the similarly sized Naked Addiction Dual).

Luminous toys are barely slicker for surface texture, vs. Naked Addiction. A little sticker too, a touch less skin feel. Once these toys start moving inside me, however—not really much difference.

Not to mention, Luminous dildos are much cooler to look at than Naked Addiction’s pale-white, and you’re not limited to only one possible size.

Vs. VixSkin

This toy line is the standard for dual-density dildos, the first and the original maker. Handmade, and super-duper-squishy outside, VixSkin toys have a gentle and pretty realistic feel.

VixSkin is about as soft as you’ll find in a realistic dildo: the outside layer is in the 00-20 to 00-30 Shore range, which feels amazing if you’ve only experienced firm dildos before and want a kinder sensation. VixSkin toys’ uncored heads and ridges are very malleable. Squishy-squashy.

Luminous dils essentially replicate the feel of VixSkin but with slightly less drag and good suction cups attached.

Luminous-dildo-review-vs.-Vixskin
Just hangin’ out writin’ about dildos. VixSkin Mustang, left; vs. Luminous (mid-sized).

Most important point: VixSkin Mustang AND Uberrime Splendid too are best-shaped (vs. Luminous mid-sized) to target out G-spot or prostate. Those made-in-the-USA dildos are excellent toys: see them compared here. Luminous Stud can compete, though—if you like it larger.

Vs. My Very Favorite Dildos: My Experience

I’d pick the Luminous Stud as my favorite dual-density dildo, because I like the THICK realistic penis heads. Stud’s going to force me to update my favorites list, move it into a tie for second place beside the SquarePegToys Nathan SuperSoft.

Squishy, protruding, and THICK—the Luminous Stud has my name all over it. Instant hard orgasms are mine when I’m horny for a lifelike toy, and I put the “Stud” right in.

I mean, it doesn’t beat the RealCock 2’s level of intimate detail, and super-ultra-realistic look, complete with floating balls. But Luminous Stud is honestly easier to jerk fast since the RealCock2 has such a massive base—harder to get a good grip on. With Luminous Stud, I can just wrap 3 of my thin fingers around the lower shaft, place the index finger on the squishy balls, and brace my thumb on the other side. Jerking is no problem.

And unlike the most realistic dildo out there, Luminous Stud is also strongly suction-cupped! More on that…

A+ Suction Cup

5/5 for suction cup strength with Luminous, no question.

The only time I’ve had trouble with a Luminous suction cup was with the Stud falling over on my desk—because I hadn’t pushed down the suction cup well first.

Just press the soft silicone base down firmly with both hands, and you’re good to go.

Yet another dildo guide I had to add Luminous to: my suction cup recommendations, since the Stud “against countertop” position has brought back memories of hands-free rides of yore. (I may have gotten lazier as of late, with all the sex machines, and almost forgot the fun of screwing a good suction dildo against the wall!)

And Hey, They GLOW

The purple core of each Luminous dildo glows in the dark. That’s after you “charge” it, by sitting it in sunlight or LED light. Then take the toy into a dark space: it’ll be light blue when really charged, or a dull white if it hasn’t gotten as much light first.

Luminous dildo review glow in the dark silicone dildo
Luminous mid-sized dildo, top; Neo Elite Glow 7.5″ Balls, middle; Neo Elite Glow 7.5, bottom—to my eye, brighter than this photo shows.

Luminous dildos don’t glow quite as bright as the Neo Elite Glow in the Dark models. For example, the blue of the Neo Elite 7.5 Glow blue is more…incandescent, I dare say.

Still, the Luminous toys are cool for fun effect if you wanna let your partner see the dildo appear, disappear, appear, disappear in your dark bedroom. Or yourself! I sometimes leave mine in my windowsill before sticking it on my bathroom counter, visible when I’m lying down in bed later.

These Are Not PERFECT

It’s a fact that soft silicone is rarely perfect. The squishier it is, the more likely that it’ll have little divots and nicks and things that make it not flawless.

The Luminous Dildos’ silicone is functionally nonporous through the material, and surface textures do not affect safety.

These are all normal with the Luminous toys:

  • Small lines on the outside of the silicone
  • Core not exactly centered
  • Small air bubbles
  • Imperfect edge trim at bottom of shaft & balls
  • Specks of dust or lint visible inside
  • Other small nicks

Of course always wash your toy before and after use (with soap and water), and sanitize if a deeper clean is desired. (I recommend sanitizing before the first use, for example.)

Evolved may want to work on their vacuum-degassing, since my large Luminous came with a fair number of air bubbles—and that’s a part of silicone dildo production that can be fixed. The bubbles aren’t a structural issue, and again don’t affect safety, but they’re something you wouldn’t see sold in a VixSkin product. Remember that Luminous dildos are mass-produced rather than handmade, hence the lower price.

I honestly can’t feel that the cores in my Luminous toys are positioned toward one side more than the other. Creating a dual-density toy with an exactly centered core is akin to trying to draw a perfect circle by hand: Good luck! The truth is that we simply cannot see how most dual-density dildos’ cores lean toward one side—whereas the see-through quality of Luminous silicone makes it visible to the eye.

Luminous Dildo Recap / Ranking

I’m so pleased about how Luminous dildos feel, that I’d suggest them to anyone wanting a realistic dildo. These Evolved Novelties toys are just a good lifelike feel, especially if you’re not wanting to pay VixSkin-level prices. And Luminous are still 2 layers of body-safe silicone.

Luminous are going to make me update my realistic dildo guide! The only other downside to Luminous is that they are very soft outside, and mass-produced by the thousands, so you’ll probably notice little marks or dents somewhere on their surface that passed a quick inspection. This is normal and safe to use.

NOTES

  1. YMMV. As always, please note that most vagina-havers will need clitoral stimulation to orgasm well.
  2. Goliath wins there for girth, and the Slink for length.
  3. Luminous Mini’s just barely slimmer, & an inch shorter, than Leo XS.

  1. Been looking forward to this review since this dildo started showing up in your guides! The only thing putting me off from the Naked Addiction was its ghostly-pale appearance, so I’m SO glad to find something comparable that’s even cheaper ^__^
