Firefly Dream Suction Vibrator Review – Tested 3 ways

The Firefly Dream makes tears well up in my eyes. Within 2 minutes, I’m either: coming, almost-crying, or imagining I’ll squirt everywhere. Because: This moon vibrator looks dainty & delicate — until you place it over your clitoris.

Then, the Firefly Dream is dramatic. This clitoral “suction” vibrator is like a Rose toy that’s easier to grip during sex. (The Dream’s crescent-moon is a better handle to grip while you’re taking a partner’s penis.)

Phew. The Firefly Dream might have you feelin’ high in the sky, but it’s got a few downsides too: Mainly, it will not work for above-average-size clits. Its pros & cons, how to use this discreet vibrator, and more on my experience.

Functions & Power

The Firefly Dream by NS has dual motors that create:

• 10 speeds of air-pulse clit stimulation with vibration (#1, below.)
• 10 pure vibration functions (#2, below.)

Motor#1 feels so similar to NS Novelties’ powerful Rose vibrator, Inya Rose. That “viral sensation” vibrator was called a soul-sucker… and I think this toy, the Firefly Dream, is more in your face strong because of how its mouth is tighter. I give it a 9.25 out of 10 for its max. power, akin to the We-Vibe Melt.

This “Moon vibrator”‘s air-pulse motor has vibration built in, but then, a pure vibrating motor (#2) lives in the moon’s other tip. That’s like a fairly-strong bullet vibrator; it’s rumbly enough on low speed, but gets buzzy on function #3 (the highest steady vibration speed).

My Experience

The Firefly Dream’s silicone surrounds the clitoris like a glove, so I’m… *forgive the pun* over the moon! about how much OOOMPH it puts out.

When I want a really strong toy, that is. The Firefly Dream is soooo stimulating, and my clitoris is sensitive! I’ve tested dozens & dozens of air pulse (a.k.a. “suction”) toys over the years, and this moon vibe is one of a few where I will get bowled over by its low power at my most-sensitive times of month. Those “clit megaphone” patterns remind me of 1 speed on the original Lelo Sona — yet I prefer the Firefly Dream because it fits better in my hand. This moon toy’s forward arc leaves room behind my clit, wrapping forward over my pubic mound so I can easily hold it (vs. arching backward away from my belly like the Sona, wtf kinda design is that).

That’s why Firefly Dream is the only clitoral air pulse stimulator that’s made tears start forming in my eyes, besides the pricier LoradiCarlo Baci (discontinued, originally $160.00; vs. the Firefly Dream’s $69.99). It’s the echoing, pulsing, vibrating surrounding my clit closely. Like, whoa, man.

That’s the first way I tested Firefly Dream, as a pure clit toy. But, it’s so sensational that I find using it along with a vaginal toy for dual stimulation makes me less overstimulated. (I have a strong preference for G-spot stimulation & thrusting.) My favorite G-spot vibrator, the Pillow Talk Sassy, is awesome as always, while I power up the Firefly Dream: Moving to vibration function #1 and then #2, and the next-to-strongest suction speed; then skipping to one of the boop-boop–boop-BOOOOP-booooop! megaphone patterns for a twirl.

How to Use

For clitoral stimulation during sex?

Versus the Rose toy, it’s much simpler to grip in doggy-style & spooning sex positions. I like it most while spooning: where his body is behind mine, eventually penetrating me. The Dream’s crescent shape hooks around to rest in my hand well, keeping way out of the way of his penis entering from behind. Again, it’s strong; once, I used the Dream for a full 2 minutes before I was like “WHOA, need a break,” then a minute after that I came much harder than I had before pulling out the Dream. It acts quickly!!!

This lunar suction sex toy is possible to fit into cowgirl-style riding. This requires me riding a little higher, not grinding my pelvic floor all the way down onto my partner’s pubic mound as his penis penetrates me. That way, there’s an inch of two of space left, so the Dream’s oval mouth remains surrounding my clit and doesn’t bang into his body. This adds tons of stimulation, but is not the easiest position to maintain.

How-To Control

To power on the Firefly Dream, hold down on the power button for 3 seconds.

You can then either press the power button again to turn on the air-pulse vibrator, or press the other button to turn on the vibes-only end. My only occasional annoyance in the dark: learning to reach around to find the 2 control buttons, which are closer to the Dream’s mouth than with other clit pulsators!

If you’re new to air-pulse clit toys, they are truly different than normal vibrators. The air-pulse surrounds, and focuses on, the clitoris uniquely.

Here are basic tips for first-time air pulse toying. In short:

1. Use a couple drops of water-based lubricant inside the air-pulsing mouth first.¹
2. Turn on the toy on first, then place its open hole over your clitoris. Adjust to get it centered properly, and either press down harder for more direct stimulation, or ease off / move it under your clitoris if it feels too intense.
3. Work up slowly.
4. If you feel stuck / are not approaching orgasm: Either (A) rub the stimulator’s mouth over your clit or (B) do kegel clenches & think of something hawwwwt to you.
5. Be ready to decrease the intensity as you orgasm, because air-pulse orgasms are killer strong!

Firefly Dream Suction Mouth Size

The Firefly Dream’s air-pulse mouth is a long oval: That’s awesome & ergonomic because clitoral glandes can be 2 to 3 times longer than they are wide.²

The Dream’s hole will be a good fit for the median clitoral size (under 0.2 inches diameter across [transverse diameter] × up to 0.25 inches visible length), but not for substantially-above-average clits. As with penetrable penis toys, anyone with a bigger package will have to consciously seek out bigger openings for comfort; Satisfyer Pro 2 (all generations) and Satisfyer Curvy 1+ are the largest options currently. Cloud Stand & Charging

This Dream rests on a cloud charging stand. It’s cute, and it serves a purpose: it keeps your vibrator separate from whatever surface you’re charging it on. Helpful if, for example, you’re wanting to charge it on your bathroom counter that you haven’t cleaned lately. Then, you can use the Firefly Dream immediately when it’s done charging, you don’t need to wash it again.

It charges when you align the magnetic charging prong’s inside the cloud cradle. They’ll connect, and charge for approximately 2 hours. This will give you 120 minutes of pulsing vibration on low, or just over 90 minutes run time on high intensity.

Care & Cleaning

Firefly Dream vibrator is made of silicone, with a nonporous plastic connector (the gold part) between its air-pulse mouth & pure-vibration end.

Overall, it’s less of a pain in the arse to clean than the Rose vibrator, where your fluids might get stuck in cracks between silicone petals, making the toy look less attractive. (Soft-bristled toothbrush?) With the Firefly Dream, you do have to run a finger around the multi-tiered ABS plastic rim, if you’ve gotten fluids onto it.

The silicone does have glowing-pigment safely embedded, so it lights up white-green after you let it sit under sunlight (even indirect) or LED light. Here, I’d laid the vibrator near a window, but not its cap:

Preferably, use a thinner water-based lubricant, not a gel-like lube, so it washes out of the narrow air-pulse tunnel easier.

Recap & Rating

NS’s Firefly Dream matches their Rose vibe for power, plus some: Because it surrounds my clit more comfortably. The oval mouth is a more natural, close fit that homes in the air-pulse pressure. Plus, because of how the air-pulse channel is shaped, the Dream has an incredible echoing resonance on 2 of the pulsing patterns—amplifying the pressure and vibration together.

*If* you like strong clit-focused vibration, it’s a… dreamy value. Its two motors are separately controlled, so I can turn up the vibration to my taste (avoiding the highest setting) while alternating between my 3 favorite air-pulse functions (out of 10).
