We-Vibe Melt Review – OMG Blow Power!

We-Vibe Melt is an air pulsation clit stimulator that’s my #1 for over 3 years now: the best clit “sucking” orgasms, ever. You could say it’s blown my mind as well as my clitoris. Why?! Well, it’s both strong and shaped to fit in with vaginal stimulation, too, like using Melt during sex with a partner.

I first got interested in Melt by We-Vibe because it’s an app-controlled sex toy— back when I was in a long-distance relationship. Ironically, long-distance vibrator control is how I’ve used Melt least. Instead, Melt’s most exceptional as a solo pleasure device: me, my G-spot vibrator, and Melt.

Will it be the most comfortable Womanizer/Satisfyer-type clit toy for you? Melt is my best ever, but it has several cons:

Pros & Cons

  • Great pulsing strength.
  • Easiest suction toy during vaginal sex .
  • Flexible oval mouth forms a better seal around the clitoris.
  • Waterproof & USB rechargeable.
  • + and – control buttons for simple speed changes.

We-Vibe Melt ($149 MSRP; save 10% with code PHAL10) is smooth silicone that’s flexible at the mouth, which is 0.42″ wide × 0.65″ long inside. Magnetic rechargeable, it averages 2 hours run-time per recharge.

How-To Use We-Vibe Melt

The WeVibe Melt can be played with in all these ways:

  • Clit stimulation only, Melt’s primary goal.
  • Held on the clit during penis-in-vagina sex, for clitoral ooomph.
  • Held on the clit during vaginal dildo-ing or G-spot vibrator use.

The Melt was designed as a “couples” toy: Crafted to not block precious space in front of the vagina—like Womanizer toys get in the way. In contrast, We-Vibe Melt is compact, not bulky; slimline; and wraps upward around the mons pubis. It’s a fantastic design, beautifully thought-out: Which you’d assume should be the norm for sex toys over $100, but isn’t always the case.

We-Vibe Melt WHAM air pulse clitoral stimulator

To start playing with the We-Vibe Melt:

  1. Apply a couple drops of lubricant inside its air pulse “mouth” (the open oval).
  2. Press down on the Melt’s plus (+) button, and the air pressure will begin!
  3. Place the Melt’s mouth over your clitoris, spreading your outer labia if needed. You do not need to retract your clitoral hood.
  4. Start on the lowest level, and continue pressing + whenever you want more strength. Or, if it gets too strong, of course use the (–) button!
  5. It’s common to feel super-duper sensitive when you come, especially on an air pulse toy. Hit the minus control button 2 to 5 times quickly as you reach climax. (You’ll be more likely to have multiple Os this way.)

For me, the We-Vibe Melt is best as a gradual escalation from function #3 to function #8. Some people will orgasm almost immediately on its pinpoint power; others will prefer an edging experience: strengthening the Melt, clenching, backing down, and increasing power again, repeatedly—until they can’t stand it anymore and cum hard.

The Melt is incredible as a clit toy if you like vaginal play too: Melt + internal stimulation really cranks up the WOW factor for blended orgasms. 😵 Just hold the Melt in your left (or non-dominant) hand, as you thrust a dildo or hold a G-spot vibrator with your right / dominant hand.

Air Pulse Functions & Strength

The We-Vibe Melt has 12 functions of air pulsation / a.k.a. air pulse stimulation. What’s that? It’s technically not a vibrator: the Melt emits quick puffs of air from its nonporous ABS plastic channel.

That pulsing-air pressure feels more intense than vibration, and targets the clitoris more directly. Orgasms are 100% a guarantee for me.

We-Vibe Melt scores from 3.0 to 9.25 (out of 10), low to high speeds, on my air pulsation intensity scale, compared against products by Womanizer, Satisfyer, and more. At a 3/10 starting speed, it’s pretty gentle but not so whispy gentle as a Womanizer Premium ($199) or a Satisfyer Pro 2 ($39.99) on low intensity. If you are very sensitive to direct clit stimulation, the Melt could feel overpowering as a first air pulse toy; check out any Satisfyer Curvy for a more low-key starter “suction” toy.

We-Vibe Melt is covered in silicone outside. It’s a body-safe (functionally nonporous) polymer; and the only (possibly) *soft* sex toy material that remains safe for long-term use, as its molecules repel water and bacterial growth. (More on how to clean, below.)

My We-Vibe Melt Experience

I’ve used the Melt’s air pulse power here, there, and everywhere. How to summarize 42 months of pleasure, into a couple hundred words? The We-Vibe Melt is just… a standby. Old faithful. Hundreds of very satisfying orgasms: after I spent the first couple weeks learning to enjoy its intensity, back in 2019!

I began writing this updated Melt review after I lost my Melt temporarily. Sad times. I’d been testing the Womanizer Classic 2 faithfully, and was very pleased with how thuddy its air pulses are. But, it just doesn’t fit into my Pillow Talk Sassy G-spot play so well as the We-Vibe Melt does. I’d set my Melt aside to dry in the fold of a clean towel the same color as it… and it got shoved behind a couple other toys.

…So, I found myself searching all over my bedroom & bath the next week, tryna figure out how to compensate for its loss. I simply do not own any other air pulsing toy that’s so damn good alongside vaginal play, out of the seventy-something air pulse toys in my collection now. I was just about ready to buy a new We-Vibe Melt, when I checked that darn navy towel a fourth time and decided to fully lie it flat. Eureka!!!

Simply, the Melt is irreplaceable. A quick pick-me-up for my clit.

We-Vibe Melt - favorite air pulse with G-spot vibration, Pillow Talk Sassy

My favorite thing is to combine it with the Pillow Talk Sassy, as mentioned. For me the combo is better than the $219 Womanizer Duo, since I can thrust the Sassy for better G-spot stimulation (I can’t thrust the Duo’s slimmer vibrating shaft well).

It is absolutely possible to use Melt during sex: This is great for anyone who wants a lot more stimulation, beyond their partner’s penis. It’s not going to desensitize you to enjoying “normal” toy-less sex; it’s just a way to add more, extra fun.

The trick to using an air pulse clit toy during sex is that you don’t want to be fast-fucking. Long, high-speed strokes are more likely to throw off the Melt’s focus over the clit, its “seal.” That seal doesn’t need to be perfect, I can still feel the Melt when it’s not pressed down firmly on my vulva. But, the air pulse is more intense, more consistent, when well-sealed. For grinding sex, me & my boyfriend have found Melt easiest when I’m riding cowgirl, so I do have control over the speed and the angle of the Melt. Slow & steady rocking = indescribable blended orgasms.

And it’s cool for foreplay, too, with him watching me and/or using another toy himself. The only act I really do not like with WeVibe’s Melt is letting any partner hold it against my body: it’s much more frustrating as I wait for another human to figure out my correct positioning at any given second. And the Melt is best with that consistent contact.

Clit-Fit & Comfort

The We-Vibe Melt has an ovoid mouth, like all newer Womanizer toys. This makes sense, because the clitoris is actually longer than it is wide, plus the internal clit extends much longer: under the vulva, extending toward the vagina.

The Melt’s “mouth” opening is a medium-firm silicone, ≈20A Shore durometer; but flexible because it’s a thin “lip.” This flexibility makes the Melt’s seal feel more natural, IMO.

At ≈0.42 inches diameter across its mouth, and with ≈0.5 inch easily penetrable depth, Melt’s opening is sized for most people. (Average clitoral diameter ranges from 0.13 – 0.2 inches across.) I love Melt’s clit-fitting feel. But, anyone with an above-average clitoris that sticks out prominently when aroused will be better served by a Satisfyer: either the classic Pro 2, or the Curvy 1 is even wider with a deeper channel to penetrate.

We-Connect App Control: Eh.

We-Vibe’s We-Connect app is… OK. It’s not great. It’s always been glitchier than the Lovense app for me and my partner; and was a nightmare 2017 to late 2019 when I was trying to play long-distance a lot. Near 2020, the app appearance changed, and we could actually connect easily via the app, for him to control my We-Vibe toys. Even then, the app was prone to disconnecting randomly after 10 or 20 minutes.

I’d try it with my new partner, but, based on how the “upgraded Bluetooth” of the Moxie+ still isn’t always staying connected with my own damn phone while I’m walking around: I have no love for the We-Connect app, and don’t want to even bother.

That said, custom air-pulse patterns are now possible through the We-Connect app. So, if you’d like different rhythms, not just predictable pulsing, then it’s worth trying in your bedroom. If your thighs aren’t blocking between Melt and your phone, you’ll probably have a stable Bluetooth connection.

Care & Cleaning

Is the We-Vibe Melt waterproof? Yes, IPX7 waterproof submersible. (That’s excellent, because you might be getting it very wet.) It’s suitable for use in the shower or in the bathtub.

We-Vibe Melt how to clean

To clean:

  • Run the We-Vibe Melt under running water in your sink, squirting soap into its air-pulse channel.
  • Run your finger around inside, if lubricant remains.
  • If lube remains, or you use it during your period especially, use a damp Q-tip to remove any drippage down the channel. Fluids can be washed out with just water, but they’ll come out better if you use a Q-tip on that seam where the Melt’s silicone body and plastic “throat” meet.
  • After washing for a minute, shake water out of the mouth. (Jerk it, mouth pointing downward.) Water will sit inside if you skip this step.
  • Let air-dry, preferably mouth-down on a clean towel.

We-Vibe warranties each Melt for 2 years, meaning they’ll replace it if it breaks (as long as you have a proof of purchase / email confirmation from a reputable online seller). My first, pink Melt lasted just slightly longer than 2 years, and my navy Melt is runnin’ strong after a year plus.

Melt Recap & Ranking

The Melt by We-Vibe is 100% awesome if you want a strong air pulse stimulator, and especially the best ever if you’re looking to fit it into vaginal sex / G-spot play, at the same time as the Melt’s power-pulses. I’ve used it roughly 50 times more than any Womanizer toy I own because of the Melt’s easier shape.

During the 1 month out of the last 42 months I’ve owned a Melt, and I lost it, my sex routine had an absolute void in it. (I was about to buy a new one when my misplaced Melt appeared, like magic!!!🪄)

It’s so streamlined, it makes Satisfyers and Womanizers look awkwardly clunky. The Melt’s body shape has never been equaled by any other air pulse toymaker. Overall, I want to give it a perfect rating, because so many orgasms: But the “eh” app control, and the bit of work cleaning it, bring my rating down to 4.8 out of 5 stars.

  1. Hello. Great review.
I have a question about comparing Melt and Penguin. I know that these are products from a different price range, but is it worth replacing the penguin with melt?

    • Hmm! It depends on how particular you are about fit, and how happy you are with the Pro Penguin already. For me, the Penguin’s rounded-box-shaped mouth is a bit large, but I really don’t like how the edges feel against my vulva.

The Penguin is easier to grip compared to Womanizer toys (I’m deviating from the Melt here!), and of course it’s super-cute.

The Melt’s highest couple speeds are definitely faster. Like, they *pop* more.

      • 🙂 My wife using the penguin reaches max in 2 minutes from level 0.
If she starts using melt, then maybe he will go down to less than a minute 🙂

  2. I have the My-G by Adrien Lastic. After reading this, I’m now considering getting the Melt too. In terms of the sensation for the clit stimulation only, do you think they might be too similar to be worth it?

I’ve also read your other article comparing the Melt with the Lelo Sona 2/Cruise, so I’m considering that as well. I’d like to try another clit stimulator that feels more different from My-G. Which of these 2 would you choose?

Wonderful work you’ve done here reviewing toys for those of us who can’t afford them all!

    • The My-G is definitely a lot different than either Melt or Sona. I think the MyG feels lighter in terms of how strong the air flow is. The Melt will have much higher intensities for sure. The Sona 2 doesn’t quite have to the lower-to-higher range that the Melt does. The Sona’s mouth is smaller for sure, especially smaller than the MyG, but Sona 2 also has that raised rim that I’m personally not a fan of for comfort reasons. (It may be less bothersome to other people.)

The Melt and then the Womanizer Classic 2 are the air pulse toys I use regularly; I think they’re different enough (since the Melt is a litle more forceful, and easier to use along with a G-spot vibrator; whereas the Classic has more *thuddy* pulses).

Thank you so much for reading!!!
