Buh-boom-buh-BOOM! The Thump It dildos by XR Brands are true to their name: thumping dildos, NOT thrusting dildos or vibrating dildos. Their magnets bump-bump-bump in a strangely unusual way. Self-propelled sex toys are so popular now, it seems every manufacturer’s looking to release toys that: thrust, pulsate, thump, throb, flicker, rotate…and more!

The Thump It thumping dildos are propelled by magnets, and they move up and down basically no distance at all: about a tenth of an inch. But inside is the chicka-chicka-chicka thump-thump weight going back and forth. Thump It dildos also have a remote control and a strong suction cup, useful features.

Because I am a lover of THRUST, and I have a big collection of toys that truly move in and out, the Thump It was an adjustment for me. I received this thumping dildo for review about the same time as I got my hands on a BMS Naked Addiction “Thrusting” one, which, again, actually jiggles rather than truly screws. These toys DO NOT feel like “real life” at all—but they’re still quite fun. Mainly, the thumping weight feels fantastic with a strong clit vibe.

Here’s how each of the two wiggly-moving dildos works, and how it stacks up to other thrusting options.

Thump It Thumping Dildo, 7.5″

The Motion

So the Thump It Dildos by XR Brands were well-named: “thump” is the perfect word. The magnets inside each Thump It add a sense of motion inside the shaft, a jiggly kind of weight. It makes me think of bowling balls colliding with each other. Thump Its (there are 3 sizes) all have 3 steady jiggly speeds, and 4 patterns.

The Thump It technology is clearly modeled on the Fun Factory Stronic pulsators’ (description here) except Thump It moves up and down less (Stronics have about a quarter inch maximum stroke length, in and out, with each pulsation). With my Thump It 7.5 Inch, I feel the magnets’ movement all through the shaft, but especially about three inches down.

There, right underneath the ring of interesting vertical slits, the thump-thump-thump is easiest to feel. The motion also radiates upward into the series of ridges under the head. The bumping is somehow subtle but powerful too, as I sense those weights moving inside. I would recommend this toy most either riden (more on the suction cup soon!) and/or along with an external vibrator (if you have a clit).

The Material

I chose the thickest Thump It (called 7.5″ by Betty’s), of course. It’s 2 inches diameter (NOT 1.7), with a gentle coronal ridge and then a series of echoing ridges under that. This is the section of the dildo that can rub against my G-spot while riding, for the most sensation.

The silicone is fairly firm, a 20A shore durometer, and has a smooth feel. With a hint of silkiness. The inside is harder, due to the motor body.

The best part of Thump It 7.5 Inches’ silicone for me is those ridges under its head. They’re quite pronounced, really noticeable if I’m moving my body against them. But they’re also more work to clean, as you have to run your finger through 5 separate ridges to remove lube and gunk.

The Extras

The Thump It thumping dildo’s functions can be controlled via the one power on/off switch. Just press to turn on, then cycle through the 7 functions.

Or use the included remote control! It takes 2 AAA batteries, not included. (While Thumper itself is USB rechargeable.) The remote is most handy if you’re using the Thump It dildo’s other feature…

…the strong suction cup. I did not expect this to stick as well as it did! Particularly because Thump It’s core is firm, I didn’t think it would be able to bend well, for use on a wall. But it does. It sticks admirably, to any slightly flat surface. Thump It is waterproof, so it can be used in the shower.

I most prefer Thump It stuck to a nightstand edge. Then I have best access to my clit, plus I can lift my hips up and down slightly and grind on Thump It’s ridgy textures. Thump It 7.5’s thickness is very filling, so rocking along with its own internal jiggly movement is wild—but then add a We-Vibe Melt, a FemmeFunn Ultra Bullet, or a PalmPower Recharge to get me off.

Thump It is pretty loud: matching a Magic Wand’s noise on top power. Unlike the Stronics, which are easily disguisable.

Pulsation / Thrust Length Table

I’m going to talk about the Stronics a lot, so let’s see how these all compare for price and thrust distance. With these speedy jiggling toys, it’s impossible to count the number of pulsations per minute like you can with a longer thrusting dildo!

BMS “Thrusting” Realistic Dildo

When I heard that BMS Factory was going to release a thrusting dildo, I was SO PSYCHED. I love BMS Factory: they make my favorite all-around vibe, Pillow Talk Sassy; plus amazing wand vibrators like the beautifully angled PalmPower Extreme; and of course my top “skin-feel” silicone dildo recommendation, the Naked Addiction Dual Density.¹

The Motion

But I got a little less excited when I realized that the Naked Addiction Thrusting Dildo did not have “bellows.” Folds that allow the silicone outside to move up and down. Clearly, by the laws of physics, this was going to be a pulsator—not a full-length thrusting dildo.

Basically, it’s like the Stronic Real except softer. The Naked Addiction “Thrusting” Dildo pulsates, with just a teeeeny tiny bit longer stroke than the Fun Factory Stronics (all listings here). Again, this makes sense, because silicone can only be stretched so much, and the outer layer of the shaft is one solid coat!

The BMS Naked Addiction Thrusting Dildo makes me feel I’m being screwed by a metronome. The instrument that keeps beat evenly, click, click, click. This dildo is wiggly, it’s jiggly, and it makes me crave faster and faster. (Also deeper.) IMO the Naked Addiction Thruster has less heft to its pulsations than the Stronics, but more than the Zalo Desire thruster.

I keep going up and up in speed…I want more. Interestingly, the last function is like wiggly vibration—whereas the previous 6 functions are simple back-and-forth pulsation. I like to turn the Naked Addiction thruster on this high vibrating speed and thrust it by hand.

The Material

OMG the silicone is so squishy. BMS is doing awesome sourcing its soft silicone. It always feels squishily delightful and has a lovely finish. That gliiiiides, but isn’t so slick that it’s no longer like skin. Like the non-mechanical Naked Addiction, the balls are soft and squeezable too.

Those two toys are not the same shape, though: BMS’s product photo for the Thrusting model actually shows the plain Naked Addiction Dual Density. And the two are different. The pulsating one I’m covering here has half an inch more insertable length, 0.2 inches more width at widest, and a flatter-feeling ridge.² Personally I like the original (BMS Naked Addiction Dual Density) shape more: I need more ridge for my G-spot, please.

In the soft-soft silicone, the BMS pulsating dildo’s head is quite gentle. More gentle than the Stronic Real’s, even though a similar width. And they’re both moving really fast!

The Extras

The BMS pulsating dildo’s suction cup is pretty good. It is pretty flexible, and may not provide the most stable fit inside a harness. It’s impossible to use the BMS Naked Addiction Thrusting suction-cupped to a wall because the core is so firm, inflexible. Much simpler to lie back and let it jiggle away.

It also has a remote control, powered by a CR-2032 battery. Similar to the XR Thump It, one button switches through the functions.

Overall Thoughts

Both the XR Thump It and the BMS Naked Addiction Thrusting have more subtle, gentle stroking action than a full-on thrusting dildo or a sex machine, for sure. And both have their selling points:

• The XR Thump Its come in 3 sizes (the thick one I got makes me feel full), have a strong suction cup, and an echo-ey bumping going on inside the shaft.
• Whereas the BMS pulsator has that squishy comfort of the softer silicone. If you’re someone who got a Stronic pulsator and was thrown off by the slightly “draggy” nature of the silicone, the BMS dildo is definitely worth considering.

I enjoyed the testing experience, but neither toy is hot enough to make me rush to update my full best thrusting dildos guide. These thump-pulsing dildos are more in the “I mean it’s fine I guess” category for me. I keep trying to tell myself it’s OK that the thrusting motion isn’t realistic. It’s OK! Really, sex toys don’t need to feel “real”! But in the end, what can I say, realism gets me off. And I want it deeper, and more lifelike. Gotta pull out the VixThrust self-thrusting combo, or one of my favorite (plain) realistic dildos, for the most orgasmic finale.

1. This self-propelled dildo by BMS is part of that same line, Naked Addiction, but has a motor and a firm plastic core underneath the soft silicone outside; versus the Naked Addiction Dual’s more flexible silicone core. The outer layer of silicone in both toys seems identical.
2. There’s a secondary, retracted-foreskin-type ridge underneath the coronal ridge that lessens the ridge’s sensation for me.
