The Nathan dildo by SquarePegToys *inspires* me. So simple, yet so good. I keep wondering, “WHY did I not own this years ago?!? What could I have been thinking?!?” My relationship with Nathan is primal: this is a toy that makes me come hard, makes me remember why I got into dildo reviewing in the first place.
SquarePegToys has a slogan for their realistic dildos: “Just the Meat.” I fucking love this wording, because it’s sexy and truthful. SquarePeg’s SuperSoft platinum silicone will feel fleshy, “meaty,” once it’s inside you. It’s very squishy, but holds its own when standing up or suction-cupped. And it’s amazing for taking a pounding with. Not to mention, handmade in the US, so your purchase supports actual toy enthusiasts who are deeply (and thickly?) devoted to their craft.
Nathan here is such a usable + fun shape among SquarePegToys’ realistic dildos: steamlined and easy to thrust. I’ll start by comparing all current SquarePegToys dildos cast from live models, then move on to why Nathan’s got me all starry-eyed. Which SquarePeg SuperSoft dildo would you pick??

SquarePegToys Realistic Dildo Comparison
SquarePegToys does a lot of abstract shapes: looong things, wild things, pushing you OPEN things. (Including the expertly designed Egg Plugs.) But what can I say, I chose my site name for a reason: my love of realistic-dick shapes.
SquarePegToys’ six male-named toys are ultra-realistic because they were cast from actual human penises. Nathan, Steve, Leo, Mel, Dirk, and Dustin all have their own story—ones we’ll never know, apart from the casting process. For our dildo-screwing purposes, their shapes and sizes are what matter.
- P-spot / G-spot targeting: Well hello there, Steve! This one’s line of a ridge that angles and hits the spot. Steve’s thick base (it’s not long, but is wide!) also keeps it more stable than the longer realistics. Read Steve’s story here.
- Tapered, w/ good length: Mel’s strong leftward curve is distinctive! Great for deeper play. The head is smaller than the shaft, possibly making insertion easier if you’ve chosen a bigger size than your last toy. I actually went with the “small” version here because it’s almost as thick as Nathan 1X at widest! Actual/Size Mel is a big boy, with both length and girth.
- The long, hole-rubbing one: The Leo dildo’s extra length is a great feature if you are wanting to use this toy suction-cupped (and/or deep!). Leo’s straight, uniform-girth shaft is the star of this dildo show. The skin lines are prominent, up and down the long length (but now slightly polished in v.2, so Leo is a smoother fuck!). Leo’s smooth head is wavy—much narrower on top, so you’ll really only feel the bottom half, especially the foreskin bunched up at the ridge.
- A sweet standard shape!: Nathan (1X) is thick and straighter, with a smoothed ridge. Nathan actual size, is the best SquarePegToys dildo if you want a comfortable “average” size realistic—and I do recommend Actual Size in the slightly Firmer silicone (described more below).
- Uncut ‘n’ stout!: Dirk is obviously uncut (in both poses, skin up vs. skin down), and thick but short! Dirk A/S (the smaller one with retracted foreskin) has a strong forward curve. Plus it’s very wide for its length—and I do enjoy a good chode-y dildo). The contrast between Dirk A/S’s glossy head and skin-lined shaft is fascinating, two feels in the same dildo. Dirk 1X, in contrast, is about the stretch without going deep.
- More skin, please: Dustin is now the most skin-textured SPT realistic, complete with a real crown of thick foreskin around its tapered head. The sideways-curved head is smaller than the bulging shaft, which is a real hole-filler as you progress 3 to 4 inches in. This is a skin-filled stretching dildo.
All these toys come in Harness (no balls) and normal (with balls) versions. The ball-less Harness ones can include “FlushCup” suction cup bases and will fit in some harnesses—depending on how BIG a model you choose. (You will need a specially supportive harness for the largest SquarePegToys harness dildos.)
Nathan’s Features
I love dildos, but it’s rare I come across new ones that make me weak at the knees. Lusting after more, creating a permanent place for the new addition on my bedside table and toy drying rack.
Nathan has a flared head, with a subtle ridge that sticks out just enough to make me want more. And more. And more. I have a Nathan problem now: I keep finding myself thrusting this toy at 12:30 a.m. and I’m thinking, “Maybe I should go to sleep,” but then I’m like, “NAH must keep going! I’m only three orgasms in!!!”
I have two SEVEN SquarePegToys Nathan Harness dildos because I got the Actual Size (= A/S) first, and liked it so much that I had to get the scaled-up 1X Nathan too. They look very similar from a distance, but—apart from size—have slightly different feels. Then I had to get a Nathan 1X with SquarePegHole for my fuck machine, and then (late 2021) SquarePegToys redid Nathan to smooth out its shaft, and THEN (spring 2022) the Firmer silicone versions were released!
The smaller Nathan Harness A/S dildo is just a lil bit thicker than “average,” (1.5-ish inches diameter / 4.5 inches circ.) and not long. All my SquarePegToys dildos thus far have been sized BIG in width and/or length. Because that’s just how SquarePegToys run. (Do consider size carefully when buying a Leo, for example; Actual Size there is not for the “typical” dildo user.1)
I was so taken with Nathan A/S because the skin texture is so right-on realistic. Neither too slick nor too draggy—plus it has that softness that makes you think of flesh. Urrrrgh, it’s so good. I am very sensitive to surface textures—I will go against popular opinion and tell you that VixSkin does not feel the most realistic because the silicone is unnaturally smooth. Whereas Nathan’s head has all these little lines you’d find in a real-life cut glans. It’s delicately stimulating.
Nathan A/S is now my first recommendation to anyone who wants an average-sized realistic that’s fleshy-soft. I choose the A/S first when I’m menstrual and touchier than usual, or when I want to use a clit toy too. Would highly recommend pairing either of these with Nathan A/S’s soft lifelike feel:
- We-Vibe Melt, a.k.a. why even bother with Womanizers or Satisfyers
- Pillow Talk Sassy (the rumbles!) as a clitoral vibrator
But I like ’em girthy (not huge!) most of the time, hence my desire for Nathan Harness 1X. It’s sitting right under 2 inches diameter (6 inches around), with an insertable length slightly over 6 inches. That’s like over the 99th percentile for penis girth, and over the 84th for length. (Have I mentioned I love data as well as dildos?)
The proportions of Nathan 1X’s head could not be any better for my vagina. And I find myself sucking on its beautiful softness occasionally, thinking about how it’s been far too long (omg I’m making cum lube displays) since I had my partner’s impressively large head in my mouth.
When I got the Nathan 1X, I quickly realized that it wasn’t sized up via 3D printer.2 Nathan A/S and Nathan 1X are similar-yet-different!
2021 UPDATE!: Nathan 1X’s more rugged textures have been smoothed out, so the shaft glides like a dream now. A few rough patches on the back (where you’d want to wash well with soap and water after use) are gone. The Nathan 1X is now more slick, and the ridge has a little less of a tugging effect: thrusting Nathan 1X version 2 makes me feel its shaft thickness more than ever now. See the difference below:
Nathan in Firmer Silicone
Nathan’s now up in 2 density options! SuperSoft (Bronze, Chestnut tan, Graphite) vs. Firmer (in either Ultraviolet lilac-purple or Pink Sugar).
Firmer silicone is quite soft compared to mass-produced toys, so it’s not hard like you might assume. I do recommend Nathan in the smaller Actual size in Firmer silicone in general; vs. in SuperSoft for the larger size if you like a squeezable fleshy toy. Read more “how to choose” questions here.
Here’s why: SuperSoft silicone is quite squishy—but the thicker a toy gets, the less-flexible it will feel, so it’s common to find people wanting really-soft for toys above average human size (2 inches diameter and up) whereas they’d want a firmer silicone for more pressure in a smaller toy. Nathan A/S in Firmer is decidedly less floppy, for example.
In general, the “more erect” feel of SquarePegToys’ Firmer silicone allows me to orgasm faster; while the SuperSoft silicone requires faster thrusting but produces a harder orgasm in the end, since my brain will interpret the soft silicone as more fleshy/lifelike as I contract around it. This is because I am wired to enjoy phallic toys: other users may be able to have intense multiple orgasms on hard objects, whereas I cannot.
Nathan’s FlushCup Base
Both Nathan Harnesses here do include a FlushCup suction cup. It sticks nicely, better than Leo’s FlushCup because Leo is a long dude (and gravity works against its weight!).
You can also get Nathan 1X with a SquarePegHole for Vac-U-Lock attachments, and truly go as long as you want with the right sex machine (20 orgasms in a row for me, no joke. Welcome to my new favorite sex toy system ever).
The best place for Nathan’s suction cup for me is on a chair (with the A/S, because it’s short enough for me to take all comfortably) or on a nightstand corner (with 1X). I rarely screw wall-mounted dildos these days because, I don’t know, maybe I’m getting old or something. And angling is hard even with a really flexible dildo. (Oh, to be 27 again!3) So instead I stick Nathan on the wall in the shower and look at it hanging there delightfully, ready to removed and thrust by hand…or to have its head sucked on.
SquarePeg dildos are hand-sculpted and hand-poured, so the bases are not perfect circles. The FlushCupped versions are noticeably hand-trimmed. Like the dildos themselves, they’re not symmetrical, not 3D-designed to be 100% regular. I really enjoy how the maker (Scott Douglas)’s own handwriting is on each SquarePeg toy he’s sculpted, to give: the original release date (©2015 for Nathan), the brand name, and the toy name + size. See “Nathan 1X” in Scott’s handwriting if you look closely here:
SquarePegToys is more concerned with function than pretty packaging (made in China), which works for me because the packaging sections in many sex toy reviews bore the life out of me. I don’t care about the box (or the simple clear bag, with SquarePegToys). It’s irrelevant, made to be thrown away in almost all cases.4 Platinum silicone is sanitizable through and through, so it’s fully safe with imperfections—would even be safe if you cut a few inches off.
The base on Nathan 1X is not huge, it’s still a little wide so it can create good suction. Press down firmly before using, to create a seal. My hands are not-large, so I fold Nathan 1X’s edges over when I’m thrusting hard by hand. That’s possible because…
SquarePeg SuperSoft Silicones
SquarePegToys SuperSoft Bronze, Graphite, and Chestnut silicones are squishy! People who love soft silicone toys gravitate toward the squish for comfort reasons and/or because the softness tricks your brain into thinking “fleshy.” I can insert Nathan 1X into a Liberator mount, for example, and if I’m not riding like there’s no tomorrow, the SuperSoft density definitely makes me think of sitting on a penis. (A thick one.)
SquarePegToys is the OG in soft silicone sex toys: the trendsetter, having created their first soft, platinum silicone dildos in 2006. SuperSoft Bronze lit the match, if you will. Fantasy makers like Bad Dragon followed. It took the rest of the sex toy industry a full decade to catch up to SquarePeg—with mass-produced softer silicone toys really starting to become a thing 2-3 years ago.
See my full guide to silicone dildo firmness here, with a complete listing of brands by softness.
Today SquarePegToys has a wide selection and is still releasing new toys—all created by Scott Douglas, the founder and master anal-toy craftsman. You can be sure that these products have been thoroughly tested for function, feel, and safety before release. All SquarePeg toys are made of 100% platinum-grade silicone that’s US-sourced, so there are no doubts about mixing or inferior-quality materials.
I treasured my NS Novelties softer silicone suction cup dildo when I had no idea about SquarePegToys. But now, I would indeed urge you to spend a little more for SquarePeg’s quality. That way, you get the satisfaction of supporting a dedicated maker of nontoxic silicone toys, vs. a mass producer who will create cheaper toys of any variety (PVC dildos, ’90s-style jelly rabbits, whatever).
Review Recap
SquarePegToys’s Nathans are dildos that I wish I’d owned years ago—urged people to check out 3 years ago, when I started this site. I love realistic dildos, and I love soft fleshy dildos, so SuperSoft Bronze and I were meant to be together. But Nathan is my best match of all, because of its bigger, protruding head.
Nathan Harness SuperSoft suits my needs so well, I may have found myself calling it “Daddy” while using the 1X version. It’s going to be hard to move on to other dildo reviews this year, I’m so pleased. 5/5 stars for realistic excellence.
Into fleshy realism? Find both Nathan sizes here, in the smoother version 2 — SuperSoft.
Like a lil more oomph? Find Nathan here in Firmer silicone, version 2, both sizes.

NOTES
- Please don’t be that jerkoff who thinks they’re entitled to a refund because they didn’t bother reading the product dimensions and figuring out what they mean. (Soft tape measures are your friend if you’re unsure.)
- 3D printed toys can be done well—or they may have printer texture, it depends. Some dildo enthusiasts find printer textures irritating, so sensitivity level makes a difference here.
- Actually, not really, I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing in life when I was 27. But I digress…
- There was that one time I got the Zalo toys with the pretty boxes and I ended up not giving a fig about the toys themselves. Repeat after me: Factory sealed packaging does not matter. Does not matter. Does not matter. Of course you don’t want a seller shipping you used toys (because that’s shady and nonconsensual), but a perfect seal isn’t necessary for safety. You should always sanitize your new sex toys, there’s no telling what kind of debris they may have encountered while waiting to be boxed up in that factory. Or, USPS crushed your flimsy cardboard dildo box? Shocker!!! It’s if silicone and nonvibrating, boil the dildo and move on with your life. If it’s powered, read more sanitization methods here, disinfect, and move on with your life.
Just got the life size Mel with the flush cup. I do like the weight and the texture, and it was a fun ride, but so hard to “start” anally. do you have any tips (tee hee) on getting them in? Like you, I use a liberator wing.
Oh, man! Now you have me craving a Nathan… One more toy goes on the wish list. All joking aside, thanks again for all your helpful reviews, tips, and guides. You rock 🙂
the Nathan 1X is beautiful. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Oooh have fun!
I’m 6” length and 5.5” girth, so my wife is comfortable with thickness and she’s never had an issue with my length. Looking to surprise her with a couple realistic soft dildos. Would the Steve A/S and the Nathan 1X be the best of both worlds? I don’t know that she’s ever had a curve like the Steve A/S and I think she could handle the increased length and girth of Nathan 1X. Thoughts???
Sounds nice, I like your plan! The two toys are of course in some ways, being SuperSoft silicone, but the finishes and shapes are different. So they definitely feel different.
Hi, great your review of Nathan A / S and 1X! I was wondering if the original real cast version is better or the smoother updated one? In particular, has the updated glans lost some realistic detail or has it retained some definition? Thanks so much for everything
Would you recommend the harness or the non-harness (balls) version of Nathan? How readily does the dildo stay stuck to a Body Dock harness without a suction cup?
