Review: Avant D15 & Avant D16 Pastel Dildos by Blush Novelties

Blush Avant D15 Avant D16 silicone dildos pastel cute sex toys (1)

Want the best pastel dildo? Look, look! Almost too cute, each Avant D15 / Avant D16 pastel dildo is easy on the eyes—and gentle against your junk too. They’re soft silicone, with sturdy suction cups.

A perfect start to Masturbation May, really: Because why not grab some new pleasure during a high-stress time? The Avant silicone toys are awesome to pair with a bullet vibe too.1

It’s late spring here, and the Avant D15 and D16 dildos’ sweet colors urged me to pose them with so many flowers ⬆️ … But do they feel as sexy as they look? My Blush Avant review will cover my experience using both these suction cup dildos and their silicone quality—and explain why you would pick Avant D15 vs. Avant D16.

Avant D16 (“Purple Haze”): The G-Spottier One

I debated which Avant to start off with, because both shapes do different things well! I’m going with Avant D16, “Purple Haze,” first since it’s superior for G-spot stimulation (and I loooove G-spot stim). Versus Avant D15 being best as a “beginner”-level stretching dildo.

Avant D16 is like being fingered by two fingers. Except, you know, my fingers aren’t as long as D16—so it’s much, much easier to thrust and pull Avant D16 than to do myself by hand. Not to mention, my fingers don’t have a bulbous head, with a ridge that tugs just right.

I love that Avant D16’s silicone is a little softer than the Temptasia Reina, the same shape dildo in plain teal rather than Avant D16’s artistic 3-tone stripes. The new Avant silicone is so silky too, with a hint of drag that water-based lube removes. I especially enjoy it on days when I’m a little sensitive and I don’t want to pull out my menagerie of THICK dildos. Avant D16 is right for the person who wants their toy a little slimmer than average: Avant D16 is 1.3 inches width at the ridge (1.25″ in the shaft), vs. the “average” 1.5-inch-wide dildo.

The D16 is the best length for my vag too, every day, at a little over 5 inches insertable. That makes thrusting easy, and it never pokes my cervix. The abstract “uniball” at the back of D16 is simple to grip while thrusting, too.

Avant D16 is the same shape as the (formerly Real Nude) Avant Ergo Mini—which is dual-density silicone. I would recommend the 2-layer Ergo Mini version first as a first-time pegging toy (after some experimentation with fingers / a tapered plug set); or if you like faster anal play. (Quick thrusts, anyone?!) The squish of the silicone outside the Ergo Mini provides the most comfort.

With Avant D16 going by the pseudonym “Purple Haze,” I have to admit that I hear Jimi every time I consider it, and when Peepshow Toys asked which one of the new Avants I might want, my first thought was responding: “DUH you should know that if it has any connection to Jimi Hendrix whatsoever, then I’ll want the thing!!!”2

Classic-rock digression aside, the Avant D16 is my personal favorite by far for vaginal use, because of the more knobby, G-spotty head. My other hole, though, is sticking with…

Avant D15 (“Vision of Love”): The Progressive One

The Avant D15 is a tapered shape that I would recommend for:

  • A first anal or vaginal dildo: due to the small sizing + taper.
  • Gentler anal riding, where you’re backing your butt down onto the toy/sitting on it.

Avant D15’s diminutive head pulls oh-so-lightly when inserted, or during downward strokes. Really, this dildo is about feeling a little bit stretched at your opening—but not too much. It’s ideal for anyone who is tighter.

The Avant D15 is the Avant P3 in different colors: see my review of that one here, discussing why I favor it as a suction cup dildo for the derriere.

The P3 has also been the toy I habitually suggest to anyone who’s never experienced vaginal play before (i.e., “virgins”). Avant P3/D16’s head isn’t much larger than a single finger, at only an inch wide. Then it gets up to 1.25″—still thinner than average—an inch above the base, and it’s not long either. (So it’s easier to sit on / take the whole length of.)

So, with Avant D15 being P3 but in more-pastel colors, it’s a stellar choice for the dildo noob who does want cute. 😍 (And who may not want to co-opt Pride symbols in their toy, as P3’s pink-white-burgundy colors represent one lesbian flag.)

“Vision of Love” is, fittingly, a name that sounds adorable. I have to admit that if I was fashioning a dildo called “Vision of Love” these days, I would make it black and bloody-looking, as I am done with new relationships with men for the next decade. My story aside, I appreciate the poetic sense here. I might rename the D15 “Vision of Beauty.”

Avant Dildo Silicone Qualities

Avant toys are platinum silicone that’s carefully poured into colored stripes by Blush’s trained workers at a factory in China.

D15 and D16 are slightly softer than the previous Avant dildos I’ve received! These new Avants test at around 10A shore hardness, vs. the previous models’ 15A. The new pastel toys, in 10A, are roughly as hard as an erect penis, should you choose to measure it with the pin of a shore durometer; but Avant D16, the longer one, bends a tad more if you’re screwing fast. Overall, the Avant pastel dildos can accurately be called “soft” compared to most silicone dildos, but are not super-squishy.

Bends if you’re trying.

If you are looking for hard pressure, then the Split Peaches pastel Unicorn Horns are firmer silicone; or the NS Heart of Glass dildo is shatterproof pyrex that does not bend at all.

As a fan of gentler toys—ones that feel less inanimate, not rock-solid—I would definitely pick the Blush Avant pastel dildos’ flexible silicone first. And these toys are soooo silky outside. They have a velvety-kinda feel that your fingertips need to caress to understand.

Suction Cup Bases & Positions

Both D15 and D16 have respect-worthy suction cup bases. They will stick well after you press down onto them, to create a tight seal. D15 is the strongest when you’re really pulling hard, and D16 stays put for me with normal use. See me demoing how they’ll lift a couple pounds’ weight.

Suction cup dildo positioning is a tricky topic, that I cover thoroughly here. Keep in mind that smooth surfaces always work best, and every suction cup has its limits.

In short, the longer Avant D16 works for me when wall-mounted, so that it goes 2 to 3 inches in and just hits the G-spot. Or it may work if you have a nightstand just the right height, or a dildo mount. Whereas Avant D15 is easier to sit on, since it’s shorter and I don’t do deep play. (I’m outsourcing an anal snake review right now 😄: you gotta know your limits.)

Overall Thoughts / Recap

The new Blush Avant pastel dildos, D15 and D16, are 100% the kind of toy I think we need more of on the mass market: appealing to the eyes, and comfortable to use. In platinum silicone. With strong suction cups! Because you may be someone who wants to ride, but who doesn’t want your toy to look just like a dick.

With their soft silkiness, the Avant toys are a lighter stimulation that pairs really well with an external vibrator, or for fast thrusting that doesn’t hurt—like if you’re looking for a cute strap-on toy that isn’t so large. And, hey, you may want to put them on display too.

Notes

  1. Suggestions there: The BMS Essential Bullet first for small and very strong for its price; Blush’s Nocturnal Bullet for the knock-out power of a small wand; or the We-Vibe Tango for top-notch rumble.
