Clear! Every clear dildo here is a body-safe material that you can see light pass through! From borosilicate glass to advances in clearer platinum silicone, see-through dildos are just fun to look at. They’re potentially orgasmic art, if you find the right fit for your body! When choosing a clear dildo, first you want to think about:
- Whether it’s either shatter-resistant borosilicate glass or real platinum silicone (from a reputable manufacturer). Not a cheaper “jelly” toy, which may look cute but can also cause problems for your body!1
- How firm and intense you like your pressure! If you like serious G-spot (or prostate) stimulation, go with glass; but if you like a gentler, more realistic feel, then soft platinum silicone is for you!
Clearly, I need to show you how awesome these clear dildos appear ๐๏ธ… Let’s see my top picks.
Contents
Clear as Glass!
Glass is undoubtedly the very clearest dildo material, more translucent than any silicone. If you enjoy firm pressure, a clear glass dildo (comparison guide here) made of shatter-resistant borosilicate glass is 100% the way. But which one?
NS Crystal Glass & Firefly Glass
For G-spot/prostate play: The Crystal Glass G-Spot Wand is very clear! It’s the same shape as the Firefly Glass G-spot Wand, which I personally think looks a little cooler, with its white spiraling that can glow greenish in the dark. I really love the versatility of this one: the bulb end is a G-spot / prostate stimulator, or you can flip it around and use the “handle” end for wider rubbing massage. ๐คฉ
For less-focused vaginal + use with a clitoral vibrator: The Heart of Glass Dildo (in clear; or in glow-in-the-dark shimmer) is popular for its cute heart-shape handle. See my fuller review here.
Blown Glass Dildos
I like the Double Ended Twist Dildo a lot because it’s got a more penis-like head on one side (but of course is harder than any human body part!), then the other side has gentler ripples. I start with the ripply-twist side, then move onto thrusting the phallic triple-corona side. My personal fave for usability.
Clear Crystal Twist by Crystal Delights!
This Crystal Delights Twist is an erotic art piece, from the clear spiraling ribbon to the shining Swarovski gem in the dildo base. The twirling ripples in this one are bigger, so they feel more dramatic. Try spinning this one like a corkscrew, to see some fleshy pink through the clear dildo (if you have a partner viewing from the side). Really sexy to watch the way it pushes open the hole it’s entering and spreads the labia too during vaginal play. Crystal Delights dildos are handmade in Canada, and many (like the Crystal Twist) include real Austrian crystal.
Other Clear Glass: Icicles, Lovehoney Glass, Glรคs
The following are mass-produced clear glass dildos, also made of borosilicate glass. Remember that they’re break-resistant but not 100% shatterproof: borosilicate glass will be totally fine if you’re thrusting it into your body normally, and it will withstand light falls. But if you throw it with force, it will shatter.
Icicles by Pipedream has been a widely available borosilicate glass line for many years. Icicles includes these clear sex toys: No. 2 beaded glass dildo, No. 26 clear glass butt plug (tapered for easy insertion!), and No. 63 Realistic + Ribs Clear Dildo.
Lovehoney’s imitative glass line includes a ton of clear dildo options, many copycats of Icicles and other brands‘ borosilicate glass offerings.
Ditto about the Glรคs dildo line by Hustler, which takes the NS Novelties Heart of Glass and a number of Icicles shapes. However, here you can also find a few unique clear dildos, like the clear chili pepper dildo.
Neo Elite Hanky Panky Dildo
An abstract & transparent confetti dildo that’s all body-safe: Neo Elite Hanky Panky has multi-color silicone inside clearer silicone.
It is a medium-firm 10A Shore silicone, with suction cup base. (Don’t expect dual-density silicone like the realistic Neo Elites!) Hanky Panky also glows in the dark, after “charged” in sunlight or LED light.
Party Marty by BMS
Confetti dildos are a thing! Party Marty by BMS Factory pops, drawing your eyes with the little colored silicone bits inside a clear-white dildo body. This is a realistic shape in kinda-soft silicone, about a 6A Shore durometer. Among confetti-style clear dildos, Party Marty is a great affordable & reputable choice in a realistic shape. (See the Hanky Panky dildo above for less realistic.)
The cured silicone chunks inside vary toy-by-toy (they’re positioned randomly, based on how the silicone settles), so one side of my Party Marty looks much cooler, more confetti-studded, than the other!
Fantasy Dildos, Near Clear 00-31 / 00-45 Silicone
In 2021, many U.S. “fantasy” dildo hand-crafters started playing with Smooth-On brand’s “Near Clear” platinum silicone (certified biocompatible / skin-safe).2 Near Clear is less commonly used now in 2023, since it’s more difficult to work with (has a higher fail rate / greater incidence of bubbles & blemishes in the final product), though select makers are an exception:
Most notably, Paladin Pleasure Sculptors, whose colors are magical. Look for products with “NC 0031” in the title for transparent silicone where PPS makes shimmer shine through.
Click here for longer compilation of independent artist dildo-makers who’ve played with new toy possibilities in translucent “Near Clear” silicone right now. Almost all options are 00-31 Near Clear Ecoflex plat. silicone.
Mood Naughty Pride Tapered Butt Plugs
Similarly multi-color confetti silicone, but in tapered butt plug form! This Pride version of Mood Naughty 1 plugs includes three anal plugs. The Mood Naughty 1 plugs are my top recommendation for a first anal trainer set, since they start small, are spaced well for sizing up, the firm & tapered shape is easy to get in, and the anchor base fits well in the butt crack.
Luzarte Jollet & More
The only (potentially) vibrating clear dildo! Luzarte pioneered arty silicone dildos with “inclusions”: the Polka Dot Jollet is pretty-clear silicone with craft puffs balls fully embedded inside.
The Luzarte Jollet has a hole in the base so you can stick in a bullet vibrator, which I would definitely recommend. (Try an Intense Travel Vibe for good bullet power at a great price.) See my full Polka Dot Jollet review here. Note that the Jollet is very firm for a silicone toy, to allow that G-spot bump to apply more pressure. It’s meant to curve around the pubic bone structure inside the vagina, so it’s really a toy that sits in place, and is not for thrusting in and out.
Neo Elite Glow Dual-Density Dildos
Neo Elite Glow dildos are the only dual-density dildos with really clear silicone! ๐ Dual-density silicone is so popular in general because it’s capable of feeling more realistic. The Neo Elite Glows are pretty soft outside so they can trick your brain into thinking of skin and flesh; and then they have a harder core underneath, so they’re more erect-like. The finish on these Neo Elite is very slick and almost plasticky-feeling, so I do think that detracts from the realism a bit if you’re wanting a really phallic (lifelike penis) toy.
But these Neo Elite dildos are so clear outside. Then, inside, the firm core is a colored and contains glow-in-the-dark pigment. If you “charge” a Neo Elite Glow by sitting it in sunlight like in a windsill (even behind blinds!), it’ll light up better when you take it in the dark later.
A similar “clear outside, GITD inside” dual-density dildo line is the Evolved Luminous toys. The Luminous silicone is a little cloudier than the Neo Elite Glow dildos. But I personally prefer the Luminous dildos‘ less-glossy finish, as it feels more natural to me than Neo Elite Glow (when both are lubed up). Luminous “average size” is a solid pick for one’s first realistic dildo, and the Stud is awesome if you like big (but squishy-comfortable!) popping against your G-spot / prostate.
More Safe Clear Sex Toys
Besides clear dildos and clear butt plugs, these are clear sex toys options to look through ๐:
- Boneyard Meaty penis extender: The “clear” Meaty by Boneyard does let you see the penis or dildo head underneath. The Meaty will add about 3/8 an inch diameter to the shaft wearing it. It’s a soft but not super-soft silicone! This is not a length extender, and you should not buy to use on larger or long testicles. Best for penises 4 inches circumference around or less (below-median girth).
- Temptasia clit and nipple suckers: The see-through cylinders are cool for seeing your (your partner’s) tits get a little bigger, but really it’s about the pulling sensation. You twist the tab to tighten the suction as much as you like. Get the Large Twist Sucker variety if you’ve got bigger nips already or a large clitoris; they really give you a lot more room.
- Penis pumps: So you can see your dick get bigger as you pump, most penis pumps have a clear cylinder. See All Male Sex Toys’ list of top 3 penis pumps here. Use a cock ring after pumping to keep seeing some of the size increase for up to 30 minutes.
- Pussy pumps: These are wild, they really inflate your labia. The sucking is kinda cool by itself, but get one like the Bloom Automatic pump for both seeing your lips get bigger and feeling more for sure, as the Bloom pump also vibrates. It has different attachments too: 1 for clit, a smaller vulva one, and a larger vulva one. Do note that both vulva pumps and penis pumps are very temporary, and your bits will go back to normal size quickly after you turn the pumping off.
You might choose to buy a see-through male masturbator like Fleshlight Ice or the Tenga Eggs, knowing that people tend to prefer them because they’re so soft but they’re also harder to clean (not silicone, but rather TPE, which needs special care).
How to Tell a Clear Silicone Dildo from a Porous Dildo
Provenance is everything. That means it’s safest to buy from a dildo-maker or retailer who’s up on safety concerns, and who’s sourcing their products reputably. This is an issue because “jelly” sex toys are not safe for long-term vaginal or anal use!3 Since platinum silicone now is available in clearer blends, you might get confused between a toxic / non-sanitizable toy and a safe silicone one, if trying to judge clear dildos by appearance alone.
If it’s an indie dildo maker, they should be creating toys from high-quality 100% platinum silicone; for example, most small indie makers in the United States rely on Smooth-On’s US silicone production. If it’s a multi-brand retailer, that shop should be sourcing toys directly from the toys’ manufacturer or from a manufacturer’s authorized distributor. Here’s a list of online boutique retailers I trust, with Peepshow Toys having the best curated silicone selection including American handmade toys, and SheVibe having some indie inventory as well.
These days you have to watch out for Etsy vendors, sometimes! Etsy used to be the spot for legit artisan dildos, made ethically by real-life dildo enthusiasts. Now โ while some reputable shops still do use Etsy because it’s a robust platform โ you’ll see a lot of drop-shippers of “who knows what it is” Chinese-made products filling up Etsy search results too.
It’s a little confusing, but with some experience you can tell the makers who really have a passion for their craft and are concerned about their product quality, vs. dropshippers who sell whatever. Feel free to shoot me an email at phallophilereviews@gmail.com if you’d like my opinion on a particular seller!
NOTES
- Unlike clear “jelly” (TPR/TPE or PVC) dildos, glass and silicone don’t allow bacteria, viruses, and/or fungus to grow easily. That sparkly vibrating dong you find on Amazon may look cute, but it’s not going to stand up to the test of time like a pure silicone toy; PVC in particular can cause burning and contribute to vaginal infection in some users.
- Note that the safety certification called “skin safe” by Smooth-On is lab testing for chemicals that remain in contact with the human epidermis (outer skin layer), rather than testing for internal sexual use. I personally agree with several high-quality plat-sil manufacturers (like SquarePegToys and Hankey’s Toys) that platinum silicone can be safe for dildos without costly lab testing that doesn’t actually measure contact with vaginal or anal mucous membranes.
- Also not great against the vulva (like for clit play) even if they’re not inserted vaginally!
