Pleasure Forge Illithid Fantasy Dildo Review

The Illithid dildo by Pleasure Forge is beyond cool. Based on the brain-eating underworld creature of Dungeons & Dragons fame, the Illithid is over 6 inches of ridged, tentacle-y goodness (or evil, rather!). As Pleasure Forge says, “Illithid[s]…are the evil lords of many parts of the Underdark. Adventures would do well to stay clear of their tentacled appetites.”

Feeling dangerous?

The Illithid is part of Pleasure Forge’s “Dungeons and Dongs” line; it’s a “parody representation of a high fantasy creature,” cast in quality, body-safe platinum silicone.1 I, for one, have found a lot of pleasure in this D&D parody: first, because I just like looking at my new tentacled friend; and second, because the texture makes for amazing toying!

Specs

The Illithid is fairly thick:2 the top ridge measures about 5.5″ around, and then the shaft expands to over 7″ girth at the lower set of tentacles. It’s between 5.5″ and 6″ insertable, depending on whether you’re taking the top of the longest tentacle. [Update: Since I wrote this review, Pleasure Forge has released a smaller (“medium” size) Illithid too, 5.5″ tapered to 6.5″ circumference and 4.75″ insertable length.]

I requested my Illithid in the soft firmness, 00-50-shore silicone.3 Like all silicone toys in this soft density, my Illithid is a bit tacky (sticks to the fingers a little).

I’m happy with my firmness choice: Especially because of how the dildo expands toward the base, I think 00-50 is a great option. The lower shaft’s thickness—plus the big balls—keep the Illithid from bending too much in use. But if you want either really squishy or fairly firm, Pleasure Forge offers three other silicone densities.

I also asked for a fade from blue to green. Maybe I should’ve gone for creepier colors for my dark-overlord dildo, but the neon/lime green drew me in! My Illithid’s fade is well done, with a little marbling between the blue and green. My picture really doesn’t do this shade of green justice:Pleasure Forge Illithid Dungeons Dragons fantasy dildo balls tentacles

Like any hand-sculpted, hand-poured sex toy not produced by a major company, the Illithid does show slight imperfections (mold marks). These are more noticeable on the smooth front. To me, this shows that the dildo is a unique, handmade work of art—something created by a person rather than a machine. The very small indentations don’t change the body-safe nature of the silicone.

Illithid Encounters (In Use)

The Illithid’s front is mostly smooth, with one noticeable ridge that crowns the small head. Otherwise, it’s all flat all the way down to the four tendrils that extend upward from the base.

The upward-pointing head inserts easily because it’s much smaller than the rest of the toy. Then comes the brain-eating monster’s coronal ridge. Overall, I’d call the ridge “subdued.” It caresses my G-spot but isn’t incredibly stimulating.4 When I do use the Illithid facing “forward” (so that the smooth side is against the front wall of my vagina), the best thing about the dildo is its thickness. It’s really fun to clench my PC muscles around the lower shaft while using a good bullet vibe.

But it’s the Illithid’s back side that really counts for me. This tentacle creature’s ridges are what first lured me into its realm.5 The V-shaped folds run from the toy’s head to its balls. They’re slightly rounded, so as to not be pointy. Really, they’re exactly the kind of texture that I’m always seeking out in my fantasy toys: present, but not overwhelming. And there are just so many of them. Yay texture!Pleasure Forge Illithid Dungeons Dragons fantasy dildo ridges

So, though I usually start out with the Illithid facing forward, I always, always end up flipping it around, so that the many folds are rubbing the more-sensitive front wall of my vag. If I force the Illithid’s head to bend backward, I also feel the top ridge—which the tentacles descend from—catching above my pelvic bone. But it’s the lines of texture in the mid- to lower shaft that really do it for me. The Illithid doesn’t bring me to orgasm as quickly as a few other dildos I own, but the experience of grinding up against its many ridges is time well spent.

Speaking of ridges, don’t the Illithid and the Uberrime Night King look bad-ass together? All those ridges!

And whatever way I’m using the Illithid, I enjoy squishing its big balls. They’re hefty, but nicely rounded. Even my smallish fingers have little problem gripping them. I have mixed feelings about chunky dildo bases, but with the Illithid, I do think the weighty balls make a nice anchor for rubbing against the monstrous ridges.

Last Words (Help, It’s Got Me!)6

I would definitely recommend Pleasure Forge! They know their stuff silicone-wise,7 and are creating fun dildos that any fantasy-toy lover would be proud to own. The Dungeons and Dongs series makes me smile, but possibly even better, the Illthid’s ridges definitely get me off. I love the rounded-V-shaped ridges in combination with the toy’s girth. And the squishy balls are seriously stress-relieving.

You can check out all the evil creatures in Pleasure Forge’s Etsy shop here (and follow them on Tumblr to see future stock drops). You can custom-order a full-size Illithid here, or get the black-and-white version here. There’s currently no custom listing for the smaller “medium” Illithid, but right now a few are in stock here.

I’d like to thank Pleasure Forge for sending me the Illithid’s ridgy goodness in exchange for my honest review.

  1. All Pleasure Forge dildos are made from skin-safe, nonporous Smooth-On silicone. To sanitize before the first use or for a deeper clean, Pleasure Forge suggests washing with soap and water and then dousing in rubbing alcohol. Then, of course, wash well again afterward.
  2. By “vanilla”-toy standards, at least. It’s actually pretty small for a fantasy toy, but is a good size for me personally.
  3. Which is the “medium” option of one very notable fantasy toy maker (yeah, you know who I mean). See my Dildo Firmness Guide for details about dildo squish.
  4. A lot of this is due to the softness of the silicone, though.
  5. Made me want to get one, that is.
  6. I apologize. I can’t help myself with the cheesy jokes.
  7. I have been educated about silicone’s (non-)polarity and polymer cross-linking.
