Hot Octopuss Amo Review: Rumbly Bullet Vibrator

Hot Octopuss Amo review

A lil something different—but will it be innovative different, or “that’s just weird” different? Hot Octopuss’ Amo takes a giant leap away from the standard “bullet vibrator” shape. It’s not a cylinder or a lipstick mold like other bullets, nope! Amo is, quite literally, edgy.

You see that tip? It cuuurves outward. Hot Octopuss is trying something new here. I had to test that novelty out—and, I have to admit, I was drawn in by the Hot Octopuss Amo’s pretty metallic gradient. Faded pink might be a hot trend these days, but the scarlet in Amo speaks to me. And of course the power: I’d heard rumors about the Hot Octopuss DiGiT finger vibe’s rumbles so I wanted to know: Would Amo be the same?

This Hot Octopuss Amo review will give you all the details, from the rumbly vibes to the pointy tip! Do they add up to a winner?

Functions & Intensity

Grrrrr. Amo starts up with a lovely depth, a rumble. It purrrrrs to life.

The Hot Octopuss Amo is harder to turn on than most vibes: you gotta hold down the power button for almost 5 seconds. That delay acts almost like a travel lock: there’s no way it would get turned on accidentally. It also keeps you from turning the vibrator off (le suck!) when you’re just trying to switch functions. I appreciate that!

Confession: I missed that this vibe has 5 functions (1 steady, 4 patterns) when I tested it the first couple times. I found myself in the shower, feeling slightly depressed that there weren’t any escalating patterns for me to play with—to add to the uniqueness of all Amo’s different angles. Then I glanced at the (simple and attractive) instruction pamphlet and realized that the on/off button was multipurpose! Press once more quickly to change functions; or hold down longer to turn on/off.

Then the two buttons on Amo’s opposite side let you move up or down between the 5 intensities within in each function. 5 functions × 5 intensities each = 25 possible feels.

So how’s the power stack up? Vs. the gold-standard We-Vibe Tango, the Hot Octopuss Amo starts a little lower in strength…and ends a little lower in strength. It’s strong, just not “bullet vibe masquerading as a wand vibe” strong.

Instead of winning for sheer might, Amo is noteworthy for its vibration depth. It’s lower-frequency through its steady-speed progression than the We-Vibe Tango is, and there’s a certain robustness to Amo’s vibes. Simply, Amo never feels numbing. It’s not buzzy, not itchy. Overall, Amo is rumblier than Tango—because Tango has some buzz on the top speed.

My Hot Octopuss Amo Tests

So power is all well and good. Very important. But let’s talk about pressure, and precision. The Hot Octopuss Amo has this edge. The forward-curving tip.

We-Vibe Tango vs. Hot Octopuss Amo
Amo surrounded by Tangos…so many rumbly vibrations here.

Hot Octopuss describes it as “intense targeted stimulation,” contrasting the protruding line coming out the bullet’s front side with the broader back. (Or the top, more on that later.) And the line is kinda pointy. It’s no Zumio, for sure; no Noje Quiver. You can’t quite focus ALL Amo’s stimulation into a little spot through the pointy-line.

That’s good for me; I don’t want it TOO focused, and rubbing Amo’s ridge over my clitoral hood is fun. It’s able to pull down without being overwhelming. All the while the deep vibes, and the escalating patterns, are running underneath.

The way Amo’s tip sticks so far out does make it tad difficult to hold in place between my labia—which want to push that point backward. I gotta push inward harder to feel the pressure! But in the end I get off best on wider stimulation,1so I go for another of Amo’s angles.

Amo’s top is very rounded, almost in a flat way. So that wider part of the bullet is simplest for me to hold against my clit. The positioning is almost like holding the top of a mini wand’s head flat, the body sticking straight out between my legs.

The bottom of the bullet does narrow quite a bit, becoming almost rectangular. It’s an awkward shape to grip between my thumb and forefingers if I’m wanting to apply a lot of pressure. Press the point in hard, you know.

But when I’m using the flat top of the Hot Octopuss Amo against my clit, it’s simpler. I just put my first finger on the very bottom of the bullet (over the Hot Octopuss crown logo). And I can push down those rumbles, so they resonate even harder and deeper.

Materials & Technical Specs

The Hot Octopuss Amo is made of two parts, as you can see: the black silicone body (velvety!) and metallic-gradient bottom. There’s a seam between the two parts, of course. Happily, it doesn’t accumulate gunk, so no extra cleaning is required.Hot Octopuss Amo tip

The silicone is very smooth—in a velvety way. It’s neither super-duper hard nor soft. (It tests at 30A shore durometer, which most people will find fairly firm in a full-size dildo but which Tantus labels as “flexible.”)

Amo’s metallic accent is TOO CUTE and really makes this toy look classy. It catches the eye. Hot Octopuss’ product photos have the color looking almost pink at the end, whereas in real life it’s a vibrant scarlet red.

Amo is fully waterproof and has a self-healing USB charging port in the body’s silicone, a little ways above the power button.

Overall

The Hot Octopuss Amo is fully deserving of the title “luxury vibrator.” It’s got a respectable motor—soooo rumbly. It’s well put together, and the materials feel good in hand.

The pointy tip adds variety. All the depth of the vibes going into a smaller area. I do think it’s difficult to consistently apply hard downward pressure because of how Amo narrows at the bottom of the grip. My preference is to avoid gripping the base with two fingers, and instead feel the rounded, broad top of Amo’s head. The vibes almost tremble, reverberating throughout Amo’s smooth silicone.

I would recommend Amo to anyone who’s seeking:

  • Real rumbliness
  • An eye-catching package
  • Versatile surfaces: choose between the edgy point, the rounded/flat top, or the flat back
