Womanizer Vibe Review: Weird Shape, Exceptionally Deep Vibration

After testing Womanizer Vibe 8 times this month, I’m sure I’ll never use it again. It’s rumbly… but it’s SO WEAK, and it has a BEAK. Still, this first pure vibrator by Womanizer may better suit a few users who need low-powered & very rumbly vibration.

What is Womanizer Vibe?

The Womanizer Vibe (MSRP $139.00) is called a lay-on vibrator by Womanizer – though we’ll see later that I have a caveat about how IRL it might be truly hands-free. It’s billed as having “Ultrawave” vibration: a marketing buzzword that’s a less accurate description of what makes the Womanizer Vibe truly different:

Why Womanizer Vibe Stands Out – Versus What’s Bullshit Marketing by Womanizer

The Womanizer Vibe is different from standard vibrators in two ways — its LRA motor and its pointy hook shape — and I don’t dislike one of those features.

1. Rare LRA Motor Type

First, I had to get a Womanizer Vibe the minute I saw the graphic on their product page showing it’s an LRA (linear resonant actuator) motor. That matters because this motor setup is so rare in vibrators, I’ve never actually felt one before.

We’ve been researching the mechanics of vibrator motors since we conceived the Strongest Vibrators Power Test Guide last year, and every “intimate electronic” we’ve tested before this has employed an ERM (eccentric rotating mass) system, not LRA.

Still, LRA motors are widely used in cell phones & fitness devices – just not in vibrators – so this is not Womanizer’s creation in the same way that “clit suction” air pulse toys first were.

In short, what Womanizer calls “UltraWave” vibration in the Womanizer Vibe is not a special system that Womanizer developed; but is an unusual choice for a vibrator. I see why that’s true, now: There is no frequency change as you try to increase the power: all 10 vibration functions are running at the same fundamental frequency, 67–68 Hertz.¹ Zero doubt the Womanizer Vibe’s circuit board was purposefully tuned to produce this low-frequency vibration, likely to make this toy both rumbly and quieter:

2. Quiet – But Womanizer Vibe is NOT “Noiseless,” as Advertised

Womanizer promises this vibrator is literally “noiseless” and “the most silent vibe ever,” which you can see is total nonsense if you pay any attention: Even their own decibel reader shows that Womanizer Vibe reaches up to 46.4 decibels. That’s like quiet conversation or loud whispering.

Quiet, yes. Noiseless, NOPE.

Yo, if you’re claiming you make “noiseless” vibes, don’t overlay a cutesy cat cartoon over a decibel reader vid and assume that customers will **not even notice** the numbers on the screen.

It’s pretty quiet, but you can definitely hear it while holding Womanizer Vibe – especially if you want it to run on function #9 or #10. Here’s the audio, changing from function #1 to function #10 by 10 seconds in:

“Noiseless” means NO NOISE — so it’s irritating that Womanizer couldn’t accurately describe their own product. It’s Quiet, yes. But: Noiseless, NOPE.

So, despite the Womanizer Vibe’s different motor type, this sex toy still adheres to my general rule for vibrator power vs. volume:

Stronger vibrators are louder vibrators.

There are no powerful plus silent vibrators. You gotta choose one, or the other.

This means, the Womanizer Vibe’s lower volume correlates with its lower felt power. It may be rumbly & resonant, but it is 10/10 a gentle vibrator.

That is, it’s a softer vibration except for the whole part where it has a pointy-point:

3. Weird Shape with a Beak

Womanizer and We-Vibe products (both owned by the same corporate group) are always unique shapes — and sometimes, unique is not a good thing.²

There’s this point on the front of the Womanizer Vibe. That point (I can only call it a “nose” or a “beak”) is super-hard, and it extends into this raised vertical line that runs over to the back of the vibrator, too. That makes Womanizer’s claim that the other side can be used for broader stimulation, much less valid:

The top and back of the vibrator are still a bit pointy, plus the beak is where you feel the LRA motor best (that’s its strongest focus). This reminds me of the time Fun Factory came up with this kick-ass rumbly adjustable wand the Vim, but then they put prickly lines all over the silicone. The grating lines were diametrically opposed to the rumbly vibration:

This is the same. Why would you create a very rumbly vibrator but then make it beaky-sharp? The beak is working at cross purposes with the deeply tuned LRA motor.

How Womanizer Vibe Feels IRL

Deeply Relaxing

OK, so Womanizer Vibe has had one consistent positive effect over the month I’ve been testing it: It will put me to sleep. Literally.

The ultra-WTF-ever vibration is like… Have you ever listened to those binaural beats type videos on Youtube where they’re just playing this frequency, and it’s like “sounds of the universe”? Like this deep, droning HMMMMMM that you start imagining yourself floating in deep space? That’s the Womanizer Vibe.

It’s incredibly not orgasmic, but I am conked out within 3 minutes of sticking the Womanizer Vibe into my underwear as I’m lying back in bed.

Hard Point Isn’t Working for My Bod

If the Womanizer Vibe did not have the beak, but instead was a standard palm vibe shape (or a mid-sized wand shape!), then I bet it would be a lot more enjoyable — via using the friction of rubbing the vibrator over myself, to make the deep vibes let me reach climax. (It’s easier to reach clitoral orgasm on weaker vibrators when literally rubbing off on them.)

Is it a Lay On Vibrator, Really?

I can use Womanizer Vibe as a lay-on vibrator if by “lay on” we actually mean: “wedge it into your underwear and lay back.” It’s not a wide enough shape to easily close between the thighs for me, so the underwear is required as a harness of sorts.

As a whole, I prefer medium-strong vibrators, not super-strong vibrators – and the Womanizer Vibe just isn’t cutting it, no matter whether it’s “lay on” positioning or gripped in my hand, because:

Vibration Functions

The Womanizer Vibe has 10 steady functions. That’s awesome. 10 steady speeds is sweet, just about as good as “incremental speed control.”

But, the problem is that all 10 functions are set to the same fundamental frequency: speed #1 is at 67 Hertz, speed #2 is 67 Hertz, speed #3 is 67 Hertz,… speed #9 is 67 Hertz, speed #10 is 67 Hertz, etc. Instead of the primary frequency changing, there are more harmonics (resonance lines) as you increase the function number.

To reach a level that’s really noticeable hmmmm resonance, you gotta go to intensity #9 out of 10, at least. Levels 1–8 are more delicate feeling.

Sometimes on function #10, top speed, I feel like this almost, might, be an orgasmic vibrator… soon… maybe it’s coming… OK, no, I’m just falling asleep.

There are also 3 “Autopilot” modes, which are patterned sequences that escalate and then quickly decrease in power again, on repeat.

How to Control Womanizer Vibe

The Womanizer Vibe has 3 control buttons: two for powering on/off and increasing/decreasing the 10 vibration functions, then one for the patterns = “Autopilot” button.

1. To power on, hold down the + button for ~2 seconds.
2. It will begin vibrating. You are on function #1.
3. Continue tapping the + button to progress to functions #2 through #10.
4. The – button will decrease the function again,
5. Or hold down the – button for ~2 seconds to power off the vibrator.
6. To try the Autopilot patterns, hold down the ~ button for 3 seconds; then tap it again to feel the escalating / deescalating sequence.

How to Clean and Charge Womanizer Vibe

The upper section of Womanizer Vibe is body-safe silicone, while the bottom part (with the Womanizer logo and charging contacts) is ABS plastic.

It can be washed simply with soap and water, then let air-dry on a towel or cloth.

The magnetic charger is easy to attach; stick it on for 3 hours to fully charge.

Pros & Cons

The Womanizer Vibe houses an LRA motor that’s tuned extra low-frequency, within body-safe silicone and ABS plastic outside.

PROS

• Feels more resonant / rumbly / deep space versus normal vibrators.
• Body-safe materials, waterproof, magnetic rechargeable.
• 5-year warranty.
• Premium packaging look.
• May suit folks who prefer pinpoint clitoral pressure.
• Quieter than normal vibrators.

CONS

• Limited frequency range: LRA motor cannot vary more than a couple Hertz between all functions, meaning no strong increase in felt “speed” or power.
• Strange beaked shape: not really a palm vibrator, nor a classic vibrator, nor a bullet nor a wand vibrator.

Final Verdict on the Womanizer Vibe

Great concept; light-weight performance in reality. Since the Womanizer Vibe’s vibration frequency is set so low, it is rumbly, but it is not taking home any awards for power.

If you’re not a fan of extra-focused clit stimulation (hard point!), the Vibe’s beak is less pleasant.

For anyone looking for ultra-deep rumble (not strong power), it is worth considering. This vibrator acted like a white noise machine for my clitoris. But if you’re expecting the serious impact of a Womanizer Classic or Womanizer Premium, the Womanizer Vibe will disappoint.

Instead of going with tried & true ergonomics, they’ll create, say, a G-spot vibrator that curves to the side and you have to unnaturally twist your wrist left-right-left-right-left-right… ugh, to get anything from it; or a wand handle that’s alternately thiccc and oddly skinny – when every other wand brand uses a streamlined cylinder that’s easier to hold onto. ↩︎
