This year, we were blown away by how comfortable the Gnarr’s super-soft silicone knot is: it’s just the right amount of bulge, with noticeable knot texture. It’s balanced to be neither tough to insert (after a couple minutes’ warmup) nor too smooth.

I tested it first vaginally and immediately thought, “Whoooa — this is a great density for this size.” After I cleaned it and handed it over, his reaction sealed it: “This is the 1st toy where I really get what the point is of ‘taking the knot’. How to Choose a Knotted Dildo (Based on Size, Firmness, & Experience)

1. Your current experience level is the first, most important factor to consider. Choose your new knot dildo’s size based on:
   • How large is the biggest dildo / plug you can take comfortably right now? If needed, measure it using a soft sewing tape measure (for circumference) or closely estimate by holding a ruler or tape measure across the toy, from left to right (for diameter). Then, pick a knotted dildo no more than 0.25–0.3″ diameter or 1″ circumference wider than.
   • If you’ve never owned a dildo before, but you’re comfortable with penetration already: Start at no more than 1.8″ diameter / 5.7″ circumference for your 1st knotted dildo.

For the makers who offer both a “soft silicone” and a “squishy-soft silicone” option:
   • Choose Squishy Soft for the most bulging knots, like Uncover Creations’ The Knotted Dildo.
   • Choose normal “Soft” (Shore 0050) for more impact, like Uberrime Aliter — where the marginally firmer silicone makes the top “head” feel more pronounced.

Knotted Dildos for Beginners

So smoooooth! We’ve tested toys like the EZ-Knot as the best size for a beginner’s knot at just under 1.8″ diameter. Super-soft silicone makes for an easier stretch, too: In testing this Easy Knot dildo, I found that the popping in and out stimulation is present, but never overwhelming. This means: It’s nice to thrust comfortably: you feel the knot move in-and-out, but it never hurts. This super-soft toy makes sense if you want to dip your toe in the water of knotted expansaion — so you can see if you want to pursue bigger (& more expensive) knot toys after that.

Non-Representational Knotted Dildos

• Uberrime Aliter. Knotted + curved for A-spot or deeper G-spots. Called an alien, but non-representational overall.
• SquarePegToys Happy Hour: Prostate knot, smooth pressure right under the prostate for sizes S4 and S6 especially. (S2 is more subdued; and size “small” through monster are bigger & less focused at the knot’s tip.) This is a plug, so it’s made for wearing around, not thrusting.
• Uberrime Bivius is the easiest beginner knot dildo to thrust. Really smooth flow into the knot, a polished bulge.
• Bad Dragon’s David the werewolf is less canine vs. most of their knotted toys.
• SquarePeg’s G squeeze vaginal plug has a wide, scooped bulb that’s like a knot you can fold over to insert it, and then it expands itself once inside the vagina. Fantasy Dildos with Knots

• The Knot dildo by Uncover, ordered in squishy-soft silicone, just feels so fleshy as you squeeze its wide bulge inside. It requires some warmup to insert – but after 5 minutes prep. time, becomes the best soft stretch. Pay attention to the sizing, as even the small Knot Dildo is thiccc. Made for extreme stretching if ordered in the Large or X-Large size: we tested the “small” and found it not small at all, at 7.3 inch circumference = 2.55 inch diameter across the soft silicone knot.

• In the Gnarr dildo, we also liked the light “dragon plates” texture higher on the shaft & how it leads gradually into the maximum girth: 2.05″ diameter / 6.6″ circumference at the knot. Enough for a good stretch, not punishing.

• Ardor Dragon with knot and plated front. More streamlined knot, just bulgy enough. He likes it for prostate + anal canal stretch, it’s a flowing stretch with a lotta bulge front-to-back.
• Mr. Hankey’s Toys has a plethora of knot toys, including BFG, Scimitar, and Solatek; and Kthulu the tentacle-monster is knotted in a bulge before the final trailing tentacles. These monster knots are for the size queen!
• Uncover Creations has “The Tentacle: Knot” —you guessed it, a tentacle dildo with a knot, plus lil suckers running down its tentacu-shaft.🐙 UC (based in the UK) also has multiple Werewolfs and other knotty sex toys, like Geeyem.

• Strange Bedfellas Tyv has a nice bulge for anal retention: it widens enough, then drops off from the shaft into a thinner neck.
• Pleasure Forge’s Knoll is a smooth but wide-expanding knot: very filling, but more a plug than a dildo to be thrust due to the degree it gets wider.
• Bad Dragon Apollo has alotta plates; Bishop the Synth has robotic textures; and Bad Dragon Spritz has 2 groups of 3 small lines.

Humanoid Knotted Dildos

Dee’s BDs Dane “werewolf”—Large sizes here, or average size here—is the most humanoid knotted dildo I’ve ever seen. It’s like a normal phallus + testicles, except those balls are separated out into the shaft’s right+left sides. Nice gradual progression: just enough knot for the bulge and light gaping feel, but not so expansive that it messes you up when thrusting.

Ovipositor with Knot

Fantasticocks has Ember the Chimera knotted ovipositor: where you lube up the inside of the hollow sheath, insert it like a dildo, then “lay eggs” that’ve been inserted up into you.

Canine Dildos

Sometimes called “werewolves” to remove any controversy about bestiality—which is definitively not accepted in the wider fantasy toy community—these toys have a bulb/balls that penetrate, as canines have a bulbus glandis that locks in.

Uncover Creations has “The Werewolf” versions I, II, and III; (as well as The Knot smoothed canine my partner really likes in the small size).

Fantasy Grove Amarok is drawn as a wolf with horns!, but the dildo has a smooth knot, without too much obvious fantasy detailing.

Mr. Hankey’s Toys Beowulf is the coolest looking canine I’ve seen (but have not tested). It’s not fully realistic; it has style in the solid black. They also have a “Dog Dildo” with fur sprouting up from the base.

Wandering Bard Toys has a canine called “Direwolf,” available in dildo form and sheath form.

Bad Dragon has “Rex the German Shepherd,” “Cole the [Great] Dane,” “Razor the Doberman,” Fenrir the “wolf dragon” (previously called Fenrir the fox), Austin the fox, and Diego the Direwolf.

100% Platinum Silicone

The bottom line: These toys are the very safest not-rock-hard products you can put into your body. All dildos with a knot listed here are handmade “fantasy dildos” poured from platinum-cured silicone with quality pigments (sometimes including micro-fine / cosmetic shimmer types of glitter, not bigger craft-type glitter that might delaminate).

As hand-made toys, they’re safe since their platinum cured silicone (carefully chosen) is a cross-linked polymer that’s anti-microbial. It repels bacteria, fungi and other microbes so they won’t remain either on top of or inside the mass of the silicone.

To clean any silicone dildo with knot here: Really, you only need to wash with soap and water. Use your handsoap, scrub it over the dildo, working up to a lather as some water mixes in. The soap will trap and remove any debris and germs, then will easily wash off.

Knotted fantasy dildos are frequently artwork! A bazillion different + vivid color combos marbling together. When actually using a fantasy dildo, I of course don’t notice the attractive colors as much — it’s before or after my f*ck-fest that I see the toy’s full glory, either when it’s sitting out on my nightstand, “ready to play” anytime; or when I wash it, and see its gorgeous swirling base-bottom. This visual appeal makes me love any fantasy toy whose shape works well for me more! (Shape is most important, and then the look matters.)

How to Use a Knotted Dildo

Knotted dildos can be either anal or vaginal toys—but some are more geared toward one or the other.

Anal Play with a Knot Dildo

The taper from the shaft above, into the knot, varies between different knotted dildos. The greater that expansion, the slower you’ll need to go during 1) initial insertion and 2) anal thrusting with the knotted dildo, especially if you have not employed a dildo with knot previously.

Insert slowly, and ensure you’re using enough lubricant. This helps you not create any little tears in your tissue, and zero fissures (which bleed, if you jump into anal thrusting with not enough warmup).

Anal knotted dildos, with their silicone bulge, make you feel more anally. They’re expanding the anal canal, which is the richest sensory input you’ll get from anal penetration (unless you’re pushing into the prostate gland, via anal). The anal canal is about 2 inches long: past the anus, but before the rectum. It’s a tighter space for most of us, since it’s surrounded by two muscle groups (the anal sphincters) designed to keep the butt closed.

Some knots on dildos gape more dramatically than other toys’ smoother-expanding knots. These “drama knots” are tougher to insert, but easier to retain once you do stretch and get them sucked in and surrounded by the anal sphincters. (They’re harder to remove = not going to fall out easily.)

Knotted Dildos for Vaginal Penetration

For vaginal usage, for anything except a vagina plug like the G squeeze (which sits still inside, not moving), I definitely want my knotted dildos to have a smoother flow into the knot. = Medium expansion, not a mondo-bulge. That’s because I enjoy thrusting and riding, and sudden big expansion is too stressful on my tissues for comfort.

Vaginal dildos with knots are also more comfortable when they avoid a pointy tip – which, when inserted deeper, can irritate the cervix. Choose a smooth headed toy and apply ample safe sex lubricant to avoid friction or discomfort.
