Boundless Vibrating Plugs – Butt Buzz ×3 Review

My clit hates buzzy vibration, and my tits do too. So… why is my asshole less bothered by high-pitched frequencies, zzzing-bzzzing in my backdoor? It’s hard to say, but the 1.) extra-low price and 2.) general ergonomic design of CalExotics’ silicone Boundless vibrating butt plugs made them worth trying out, then putting through the anal-wearing paces.

Three different plugs are shaped well for anal beginners, and made of firm silicone with secure anchor bases. Next: How testing the Boundless butt plugs went for me – and which one would you choose?

Let’s see their differences in size and shape:

The Run-Down:

How I Review & How I’m Funded

All body-safe, zero BS. I only recommend body-safe toys I’d feel good suggesting to a close friend, and I don’t accept paid reviews, ads, or editorial control. If I wouldn’t give a toy to a close friend, then I won’t recommend it to you, either. I’ve tested over 1,085 vibrators, 540 dildos, & 165 butt plugs (and an array of cock rings, kink gear, and lubes!). Everyone’s preferences vary, so I rate vibrating toys by 1. power level and 2. rumbliness; and always describe how my personal tastes color my experience.

My Experience

I was surprised to find I like the deepest-reaching option best, out of the 3 Boundless vibe-plugs.

With X5 Beaded Boundless Plug

I’m certain its the curve, and the super-slim start, that make me favor this one out of the trio. The X5 Beaded Plug is only 0.72″ diameter, at its top bead. It’s such a gradual progression, actually easy.

As someone who doesn’t like serious anal stretch, that’s comforting. It’s actually no problem to get the top 3 out of the 5 beads inside. Bead #4 requires a lil warmup, then the final bead (1.1″ diameter) takes me 5 full minutes of gentle wiggling, and plenty of liquid oil, to get it in.

The arched tip, then, pushes into the back wall of my vagina. Within the first minute, I’ve gotten this plug cranked up to its strongest speed (function #3). It’s medium power: noticeable, not strong. And yes, it’s very buzzy.

Vibrator critic that I am, it feels strange to admit that my ass isn’t that sensitive to vibration. (*Nothing* like how sensitive my clitoris is.) Anally, as long as I feel some tingle, the exact power & pitch matter less.

It’s the motion of gently rocking this Boundless beaded butt plug – via clenching my PC muscles – that gives me sensation. And:

Strong rec: Absolutely use this with a clitoral vibrator, or lightly stroke your penis if you’re differently endowed than I. Stronger clit vibes (my current fave is the Zen Rose, 💥) totally blot out the butt vibration so I don’t notice it – so I’m going with the Swan Era’s lowest rumble-tensity to get the most out of the two toys, united.

I can walk around with the X5 Plug in, after warmup to full insertion (4.3″ length). That’s still maxxing-out my depth limits: my rectum is short. I’d rather lie back on my bed and check out my top Boundless vibrating butt plug that way:

In contrast, my #1 all-time butt plug for wearing out remains the Njoy Pure Plug. (“Simply the best” is no exaggeration for its 316 stainless steel.)

With the Slim Boundless Plug

The Slim Tapered Plug is a classic taper. Easy enough, medium beginner sized. My vagina takes up tons of space in my own pelvic floor, so I don’t find this sizing a breeze like I know a number of cis-men & their vagina-less spacing experience: where the first and second Mood Naughty plug, for them, are useless – just way too small. For me, those are 10/10 necessary steps. I don’t have the room anally. So, the Tapered Boundless vibrating took me almost 15 minutes, to get it into my out-of-practice asshole & sphincter muscles, safely.

You do NOT want to push too fast, since you can literally tear your asshole, making it bleed, by too-quickly inserting a butt plug that expands quickly. See the final bead of this Glas plug, where 0.25″ diameter increase in a spherical shape feels too-big, too-fast for me – it HURT getting even after tons of warmup!:

With the Beaded Boundless Plug

The 3 Beaded Boundless Butt Plug was my least favorite personally. I’m certain this is because I tried the X5 longer beaded plug first, and enjoy its curve much more. With this Boundless vibrating beads model, they’re too short to be “pulling in and out” like longer anal beads. Maybe I wrote them off too quickly given how strongly I prefer the X5’s more gradual progression, too.

And, if you already know your ass enjoys vibration depth – rumbly, deep vibes – then these are assuredly *not* the anal plugs for you. No Boundless vibrating is rumbly, although one of them – the Slim tapered plug – has one not-buzzy function.

Boundless Vibrating Plugs – Exact Dimensions

Boundless vibrating butt plugs dimensions
  • X5 Beaded: Bead diameters (width) from top bead #1 to bottom bead #5: 0.72″, 0.87″, 0.92″, 1.03″, and 1.10″. Insertable length: 4.3″. Total height: 4.7″. 2.5″ flared base diameter.
  • Beaded: Bead diameters (width) from top bead #1 to bottom bead #3: 0.83″, 0.94″, 1.10″. Insertable length: 4.0″. Total height: 4.3″. 2.5″ flared base diameter.

All three plugs are safely beginner-level: just insert slowly, never shove something up your butt, and use plenty of lubricant.

CalExotics Boundless Plugs’ Silicone

The Boundless plugs have a silky finish over their firm silicone.

The silicone here is a standard firmness silicone for vibrators, typically injection-molded from LSR silicone between 20A and 30A Shore durometers.

How to Use any Boundless Plug

How to Lubricate and Insert

  1. Use with a good lubricant. Top picks:
    • Water-based (Slippery Stuff is pH-balanced for anal & long-lasting – that’s rare),
    • Hybrid (Sliquid Silk is pretty good for anal), or
    • Liquid plant oil lubricant (like virgin coconut oil; I happened to try some grapeseed oil I’m using for winter skin dryness).
    • Avoid silicone lubricant on silicone toys.
  2. Apply lube liberally to the plug; you may need to reapply as your butt pushes it off. Get a lube launcher / lubricant applicator to pre-lube the anal canal and rectum internally before anal play (most convenient).
  3. Then, hold the anchor base like a handle, and gently begin inserting the Boundless plug’s thin silicone tip. The first half inch should be easy if you’ve well-lubricated.
  4. Continue to ensure maximum lubrication, as you probe gently inside. Push the plug deeper, but stop if you feel any pain – to avoid micro-tears.
  5. Ideally, your anal canal should begin to pull the plug inside, after you’ve inserted the first inch by hand.
  6. Keep inserting till the full length is in.
  7. Play with the 10 vibration functions!
  8. Try clenching your muscles (=kegeling, to tighten the puboccygeus [PC] muscles) intermittently to enhance how much you feel.

How to Control Boundless Vibrating Plugs

You must press the control button on the very bottom of the plug’s base to turn it on, then to flip through all 10 functions.

Boundless vibrating plugs how to operate

Press down for 3 full seconds to either power on, or power off. (Count to 5: it’s a long button-press for the Boundless plugs.)

Care & Cleaning

To clean, just use your normal handsoap. Apply it over the Boundless vibrating anal plug, then scrub its surface under running water. This should take about 1 minute.

Recap & Rating

The Boundless vibrating plugs are high-pitched plugs that do their job well. They’re beginner-level: the X5 Boundless is my personal pick since it’s such a gradual transition, while the Slim tapered plug should suit safely anyone’s ass that’s less tight / lacks a vagina taking up space in front.

The vibration is “strong for under $25,” meaning, you can find much stronger vibrators if you pay more – but for only $23.99 each, these are ass-kickin’. Perspective matters: The vibration is enjoyable if you’re expecting neither a Magic Wand (lots’o power) nor Incremental Speed-level depth.

If you want to *see* if you are an anal vibration fan, these are an affordable pick where the design is good: safe expansion, with the flared anchor base, in standard silicone that will repel germs. I recommend the Slim tapered one too, but like the X5 Beaded most myself.

  1. Hi Felicity! Lol it’s not about the plugs specifically, but I have a question. I want to rely less on motorized toys, including vibrators, so I’m curious about clitoral grinders. However, I’m not sure that they’d work for me, so I wanted to know if you could help me figure that out, based on preferences for: power > rumbles (like, magic wand on settings 3 and 4 over the Sassy any day–I have a hard time “feeling” such low vibrations because they don’t seem as “tactile” as a slight buzz does) but I don’t like motion in a vibrator as much as I like to smash it on and jiggle the toy maybe a tiny bit as not to lose that “sweet spot.” It’s a personal question obviously so I don’t expect a reply! But do you think a grinder is a good investment? If so, which types or specific models might work best? Thank you very much!

    • If you like smashing onto toys, I do think it’s worth checking out a soft silicone grinder, and you could get the bullet vibe slot in some of them – this is my list of fantasy grinders – some of which are true “fantasy”, but others are abstract or floral, etc.,

Currently I’m playing with the Maw (fantasy) and the Synstyl (yonic + fantasy) from Uncover, because I love their variety + custom color options (and silicone softness options too) + the vibrator hole add-on so it’ll fit bullet vibrators. – Their full grinder collection here. Which Magic Wand, the Rechargeable? The Nu Sensuelle Point over in the accessories section probably makes sense, then, since it’s strong for a bullet and not rumbly.

That way, you could either go for the vibrator hole add-on – then and make it vibrate whenever you want, but not use vibration at all when you don’t want / if you find you really do like vibration-free humping the best.

  2. Super fun review! I’m wondering though, are the boundless plugs made from 1 piece of silicone? I see there’s a slight suspicious ring at the bottom of the X5, which might hint that they used 2 pieces of silicone to make it.

If it’s made from 2 pieces I’d be afraid of it somehow getting sucked inside if it were to break apart! That’s why I 100% avoid toys like the Pico Bong – I remember reading it got sucked in for some people since the base is removable/made from 2 pieces, whoever thought that’s a good idea🤷.
